Review Summary
The Samsung SyncMaster 245B is a 24 in widescreen monitor which is impressive with its neutral grays and natural tones. The 245B has a 400cd/m2 backlight and a contrast ratio of 1000:1, resulting in bright whites and deep blacks. With a 5 ms response time, it has no problems in fast-moving games and videos, and in movies it really shows off its sharpness. The only flaw is the lack of speakers. The Samsung SyncMaster 245B is adjustable and able to swivel right round on its thick base and lifts up to 10 cm. It can also be locked in place using the key at the back but its ports and connections are limited to DVI and VGA. The Samsung SyncMaster 245B sports a resolution of 1,920 x 1,200, meaning a lot of space which allows having several windows open at the same time. And another important advantage is the ability to display 1080p high definition content. The bezel surrounding the screen is quite slim at 16 mm. There is a Samsung logo in the centre below the panel, and the model designation at the top left. At the bottom right are the monitor controls. There’s a large round power button that glows blue. Next is an Auto button which will auto-adjust the monitor if it’s connected to an analogue source. This button is inactive when connected digitally. The other four buttons are for Menu, Enter, Up and Down, primarily for navigating the OSD. If Up button is pressed when not in the OSD, it is a shortcut to the Brightness adjustment, while pressing the Down button is a shortcut to the MagicBright settings. MagicBright comprises various preset states such as Custom, Text, Internet, Game, Sport, Movie and Dynamic Contrast. It uses a TN panel rather than an S-PVA panel. Regarding image quality this monitor is unparallel.

Samsung SyncMaster 245BW Widescreen LCD Monitor
Reviewer: Benchmark Reviews1 week ago- Overall 9

The choice is fairly simple in the 24" display segment at the moment. Those with tight budgets will put up with the relatively poor viewing angles, mediocre contrast and colors that TN panels classically suffer from, likely without notice. Those who need it will want a more vibrant but not necessarily more accurate PVA model, or something based on the latest IPS panel technology that offer a little more color accuracy. But unless needed for graphics or media professio... Read more

24" HD monitor below 550 EUR
When I saw the 24" Samsung SyncMaster 245B, 1920x1200, analog/digital (LS24HUBCBQ) and its price, I was quite shocked. Unfortunately I couldn't compare the IQ with my own pics but from what I saw, this monitor is certainly not bad. Technical data: brightness 400cd/m² • contrast 3000:1 • reaction tim...

LCD-Monitor vs LCD-TVs
...acking, you have to pull down the shades to the max, otherwise the contrast is equally bad. The LCD monitor is good for your eyes and can display the best colors plus it has the advantage of 1200 lines plus you can get them much cheaper (best deal today: Samsung SyncMaster 245B for less than 600EUR, but I have heard nothing yet about the color rendering) Printing: A4 prints don't do 10MP shots justice - really! So if you have a shop that consistently prints good colors on A3 or you own a A3+ printer that may be an alternative. Rem...
