SyncMaster 226CW is the latest Samsung 22 inch screen. The monitor can be said to have been very well designed, even though it is an exact copy of the SyncMaster 226BW. The monitor has a beautiful case made from black glossy plastic. Besides the monitor’s name there is a “Colour Innovation” sticker that refers to the extended colour gamut. This 22-inch Samsung monitor is capable of a whopping 97% of the NTSC gamut. A gamut is the number of colours available to a monitor. It achieves this due to an improved backlight, meaning that although it's an old-fashioned TN panel, and fast for gaming, it's still got great dynamic range. This means the colour space has been extended and the screen is capable of displaying nuances that are difficult to get on other monitors. Whites are whites, blacks are black and everything in between is wonderfully effective. Grays are more or less true without one overriding the other. On the other hand colour gradations are more progressive than the usual uniform colour blocks. This may not be appropriate to professional photographers, but for everyone else it's absolutely a delight. Also beneficial to digital reflex owners as well as movies lovers because this type of screen usually offers more shades and they are less subject to glaring. The monitor is equipped with analogue and digital inputs. It has an integrated power adapter. The control buttons are located on the bottom edge and the Power button is highlighted with a blue circle. The menus can be a bit tricky to navigate. The Samsung SyncMaster 226CW with a maximum resolution of 1680 x 1050, refresh rate of 2ms features both DVI, VGA inputs. Its Pixel pitch is 0.282 mm with a contrast ratio: 1000:1-3000:1 and brightness 300 cd/m². Samsung SyncMaster 226CW is quite fantastic.
