Summary: I have owned this monitor for about 8 years now. I added a 24" Dell panel about a year ago but still use the Samsung as a second display. I love the 1680 x 1050 aspect ratio rather than the 16 x 9 which is more common. The backlight has held up well and I have no dead or stuck pixels.
Summary: I've had a Samsung 206BW which I've used lightly (on weekends mainly) for some time; just as my Samsung 226BW which died, this one is starting to exhibit the same problems: starts flickering when turned on, eventually stabilizes, but at some point it will completely die.
Summary: Great display for its time and still very usable even now. I see that many others haven't had as much luck as I have in terms of longevity, but I guess that's normal in the world of electronics.
Pros: Great size, resolution, color, and finish. Bought this in early 2007 and haven't had a single issue with it since.
Cons: Obviously the viewing angles aren't up to modern standards, but used as a single display for typical home use, viewing angle is not really much of a concern. However, you really have to be directly in front of it to avoid color shifting on the horizontal extremeties, so I'm looking forward to an ...
Summary: I probably got my moneys worth over time, but a year or two more would have been expected.
Pros: Looked great, no dead pixels, fine for gaming, sturdy.
Cons: Died after 3 years. Similar to a few other posts I have seen on here, it turns on and off rapidly. I am on newegg right now to purchase a new monitor. The screen was also easily scratched, although I am not sure if this is a problem prone to just this type of LCD or all LCDs; either way it was a ...
Cons: Failed on me after 3 years. The monitor flickers on and off and never ceases to stop, it is not the graphics card because I unplugged the DVI cable and just turned on the monitor by itself and it continues to flicker on and off with nothing except the power plugged into it. I'm very unsatisfied w...
Summary: When I first got it, I plugged it into my Tosh laptop and used it in dual screen mode. Took right off. (Just playing; it's for the new desktop) On a regular install I would use their drivers. A lot of control in there.
Pros: Samsung, same as my HDTV (which replaced an LG iin three days). They make tubes for Sony so they do quality. Really bright!! I am running at brightness set around 7-10 in a bright room. 3000:1 contrast ratio? Who knows; there is no standard. This comes with all kind of set-me-ups and tweak-me's. ...
Cons: Plain old swivel stand. This monitor will internally rotate an image 90-deg either way. An option to buy the rotating stand would be nice.
