Summary: 1) the picture quality with DVI can go to 2560 x 1440 but is ONLY AS GOOD as your video card. I have an older Dell and can get the 2560 x 1440, but the picture looks more stretched than clean. It is not as sharp as i would like. 2) THE MONITOR HAS SPEAKERS IN IT, BUT NO PLACE TO PLUG IT IN. Strange. After finally reading the manual, it says about the speakers "the volume can be adjusted if the input source is DisplayPort or HDMI...." There is no port for a speaker plug.
Great picture quality combined with cheap materials
7 January 2014
Summary: I'have been using this monitor on a daily basis since July 2013. The color and picture quality is great in every way. I have not seena monitor where the color temperature can be adjusted by 500K increments from 4000-10,000K and the gamma level from 1.6-2.7 by 0.1 increments. My PC is hooked up via the DVI-D and the Mac is via the DisplayPort connector, this way I can switch between them easily. However, the touch sensitive switch controls at the base is not the best.
Summary: You can't wrong with this monitor, this is as close as it gets to the Mac Thunderbolt display (you can use the thunderbolt ports with the displayport ports on this monitor). Seeing as how the Mac one and this one are the same price though, not sure which one is better value.
Summary: Best monitor I have ever used or seen bar none. It's really pretty turned off but it's stunning turned on. I use it as an external monitor for Macbook Pro or Macbook Air using the mini-display port and the picture is just perfect. Both of my laptops support the native resolution of the Samsung monitor and I've never had any issues. I have not tried the monitor with a PC or cable box or HDMI.
Summary: This display is beautiful when it works. However, intermittently, and for no identifiable reason, artifacts would come and go on the desktop and in text heavy documents and web pages. Tried this display on two different computers (one using integrated Intel HD4600 and the other a high end nVidia graphics card), using both display port and DVI at full native 2560x1440 resolution/60Hz. Swapped out several cables to make sure it wasn't cable related.
