Summary: Gorgeous out of the box. Super crisp text, lots of pop. I am coming from a same-sized HP TN of some years' service, so this display technology is two or three jumps ahead for me. Hard to believe the two monitors have the same resolution. Also, mine is new as of September 2014 and has no backlight problem. For $400-ish a good buy. Nice to have the three-year warranty. Summary: Refurbished display gorgeous. Delivery swift from FL to Bklyn NY. Item packed with minimal but significant cushioning cradling the display in an a fitted carton marked refurbished in Mexico. Sealed box unevenly balanced with item moving when position shifted. Inspection revealed weighted base plate/stand lightly wrapped in skimpy bubble wrap sitting loose against the very lightly sheathed display face.
Summary: Great Monitor Good quality picture, super thin display. Really love it. Currently have it attached to a multi-monitor stand that attaches to my desk. Don't know why, but cant wear sunglasses and look at it though; screen disappears.
Summary: I moved to this from a 1600x1200 Samsung SynchMaster monitor that was about 5 years old. It was a little more expensive than I wanted to pay, but I decided to go for quality. I'm happy I did. This monitor is so clear and bigger than my old one, that I can use the default font size for Windows without any problems reading the screen.
New favorite monitor, energy efficient, but can be too bright

Summary: I've been using the Samsung SyncMaster SA850 for a few weeks. I've been using the Samsung SyncMaster 245BW for a few years. The SA850 replaces the 245BW as my favorite, so here I will compare the two. They are the same screen size, and I drive them both via DVI. I am able to measure brightness and power consumption with a Specra Cine SA-810 Luminance meter and Watts Up Pro A/C power meter. Brightness is measured in the center, which can vary by a few % from the edges.
Summary: I am extremely hard to please in terms of monitors. I have sensitive eyes, and I make software - so lots of text. I've tried apple cinema displays, dell ultrasharps (24" and 27"), Eizo's, HP's, etc. Various problems with them, but most of it boils down to the thick anti-glare coating (or in regards to the ACD, the extremely reflective glass). The Samsung is great -- the backlight gets dim enough without destroying the quality of the picture.
STILL the Best Monitor I've ever owned-Bought another one

Summary: I reviewed this Monitor last January(2012) and I REALLY liked it then (see below for previous comments). Recently I experienced a failure of the display ( wierd Bands of colors and "tracer Bullet trails" showing through the background). After trying the obvious fixes ( new cables-reseat the video card, etc., I finally contacted Samsung to see how good the "3 year warranty" service would be.
Best monitor I ever owned, and I've owned plenty..

Summary: This is a great monitor, it supports USB 3.0, its slick, GREAT picture!!!, none of that "Dell" anit-glare coating. It is a great monitor all around, my only con for this monitor is the power adapter... its kinda ugly :/ the way its set up, but then again you can't see it. The picture on this is Brilliant. I didn't mind paying $484 for this monitor, I am actually thinking about buying another one for a dual setup.
