The Samsung SyncMaster 2220WM is a 22-inch widescreen TFT-LCD monitor with built-in speakers and a fast response time of 5 ms. With a 1000:1 contrast ratio, 1680 x 1050 maximum resolution, and horizontal/vertical viewing angle of 170°/160°. The SyncMaster 2220WM is certified for Windows Vista Premium and has MagicBright2. The screen is huge and the picture is very clear. Generally Samsung LCD monitors provide good reliability and value and the Samsung SyncMaster 2220WM is sharper and has significantly more contrast than any of them. The built-in multimedia speakers of the Samsung 2220WM widescreen monitor allow you to hear videos and audio presentations, or listen to music and working at the same time. The wide screen format makes multi-tasking easy, and there is more room for open applications, tool palettes and images. And the 5ms response time makes for smooth, smear-free motion graphics. The Samsung SyncMaster 2220WM is great for editing photos and the image is crisp and clear. Viewing angles are good, it is quite bright, and the unit sports a nice assortment of controls. The stand allows the monitor to swivel but it does not move up or down. However there is no audio port on the back. Although the Samsung SyncMaster 2220WM is great some users do not recommend it for web /graphic design as the screen is too bright and it takes time to get the right colour adjustment. For graphic design, web design or even photography; one needs a monitor with a more natural color screen display. The clarity of Samsung SyncMaster 2220WM is great, and it is an excellent choice for the hardcore gamers or the general computer user. Some users complain of a little bit of back light bleeding at the top and bottom, but it’s only noticeable on solid black images it’s not an a big deal.
bought this monitor six months ago. It stopped working two weeks ago. Samsung told me via phone that within 5-7 business days, I would received a refurbished replacement but when I called them today, I was told it was not shipped yet; it would take 7-14 business days and if I don't like the warranty policy I should not have bought the product. Well, as a computer technician I can tell you that if this was an HP product, I would have had a replacement in 24-48 hours. I... Read more
...wondering if they're are any major disadvantages with going with Vista and not having a Vista certified monitor. No doubt Vista will work with any monitor so that's not the question. I bought a Samsung 226BW which is, but a buddy of mine just picked up a Samsung 2220WM at a great price which is not. Both 22" LCD widescreens with slightly different contrast ratios and refresh rates. The only info I found from a quick Google was the certified monitors will "maximize space" for some of the vista features like the side bar a...

...00 at Newegg, but with a rebate it comes in at $370.00. Not sure if waiting for a rebate can fit in the budget or not. However there are plenty of top name monitors at that size under the $300.00 mark. The ViewSonic VA2026 is worth checking out as is the Samsung 2220WM, both under the $270.00 mark. The Chimei CMV 221D-NBC is one you really should check out. I have no experience with Chimei monitors, but the name pops up around here quite a bit and on Newegg it has a lot of great user reviews. A note on Newegg; I use the...
