Still rolling 8 years later.

Allison K., Newegg

  • Pros: Sturdy, reliable, not a single dead pixel in eight years. Outlasted my Dell 2005FPW, 21" Sony CRT, and others. It's still my secondary monitor next to a 24" Dell panel.
  • Cons: Not a true 24-bit display, but I can't tell the color difference even next to my brand new Dell.

Amazing

Stephen R., Newegg
23 March 2007
  • Summary: I owned this monitor for about 1.5yrs and it is still about the same price, I guess that means it has lasted. GREAT monitor overall, mine came with 2 separate rebates, it took about 3 months to get the rebate back from Samsung, but it did come! Overall, an excellent buy.
  • Pros: Very thin bezel/trim = great for dual display - not a large gap between screens. Fold-Flat design, excellent for wall mounting or traveling. Crisp/clear picture, no ghosting.
  • Cons: Mine came with 1 (one) stuck pixel, only noticeable on completely black screens; however, it went away after about a month or two, so either the pixel un-stuck or died...either way I don't notice it now so that is great.

Great Clarity and Features

Christopher W., Newegg
14 March 2007
  • Summary: Don't forget to use a level to mount your wall mount and plan it out so that you don't have anything in the way like I did!
  • Pros: I've had this screen since January of 2005 and it has yet to fail me. No dead pixels, no trouble with it at all yet, great clarity, and great for gaming. I haven't gotten any ghosting on it at all. Also, it comes with a pretty basic wall mount which I ended up using to free up some desk space. Al...
  • Cons: No forseeable cons to this product.

  • Summary: One Word... Amazing! Simply put. Have had it for 3mo. now. I bought this to replace an aging 19" monitor. I can't beleive all the things that I was missing. This monitor is so bright that you have to turn it down. I love this monitor. I actually have 2 of my PC's hooked up to it.

The best gaming LCD

Anonymous, Newegg
29 June 2005
  • Summary: I went from a 19" Trinitron CRT to the 172X, and I've never been happier. The colors are vibrant, text is clean and crisp, and there is no ghosting at all in games if you run it at 75Hz. My scores in games actually went up because it's so much easier to see everything with this monitor.

Excellent Monitor

Anonymous, Newegg

  • Summary: My monitor only has 1 or 2 dead pixels, but they are hardly noticable. Samsung continues to be the best when it comes to LCDs, the picture is incredible, no ghosting what-so-ever on this monitor. The 12ms refresh does good for gamers (like me). I am simply amazed with this monitor.

good

Stephen R., Newegg
27 June 2005
  • Summary: LCD is Great, you can't beat the price either. I received it with two separate rebates. It came with one stuck pixel, and just recentely (like 2 months after I received it) it "disappeared". Either it became "unstuck" or it died.

  • Summary: this monitor is awesome...for $xxx after rebates you can't beat it. I havn't gotten to test it yet with DVI (that's when it will really shine), but in terms of analog I can't complain.
