PA242 for Soft Proofing

Joel, B&H Photo
  • Excerpt: This was purchased for Graphic Design Soft Proofing. The monitor shows a wider color gamut than the intended SWOP printing condition. The monitor shows flat consistent uniformity across the screen, no hot spots. It was calibrated using the i1 Pro 2 device. We are very happy with the results.
  • Pros: Adjustable, Easy To Set Up, Lightweight, Sharp Image, Vivid Colors
  • Cons: none so far

  • Excerpt: The monitor is used for still and video photography editing along with general computer use. Out-of-the-box accurate color is a great experience! The AH-IPS panel is truly accurate and consistent edge to edge. I already had an i1 Display spectrometer so purchased NEC's SpectraView II software separately. NEC offers software download with direct purchase.

  • Excerpt: I just returned from a photography trip to Hawaii and purchased the NEC PA242. It makes my work so much easier. Even before calibrating, I could see the huge difference it makes as my photos pop up on it. It was very easy to plug into my macbook pro so now I have a working-size screen.

  • Excerpt: I am a semi-pro photographer. My old monitor was, well old. I did quite a bit of research on color accurate monitors, calibrations, etc. This monitor is pricey but I managed to fit it in the budget. The quality is stunning. I am still working on learning all it has to offer. There is a little bit of a learning curve to go through. I have called NEC for help a couple of times. I have had some of the best customer service ever.

It has tremendous adjustment flexibility and the Spectraview II system included with this model makes calibration easy.
