Summary: Looking for Professional opinion about Monitors? Just read all my real experience, Ok, this's the second NEC Monitor I'm using, This MODEL P241W since arrived, it feels incredibly Solid state, really impressed in the high Quality and the perfection of the well made.
Summary: I'm and advanced amateur photographer and purchased this monitor to replace an HP monitor with a glossy screen. WOW what a difference! Processing images on the HP was always a guessing game. Depending on my angle of view or ambient light colors and exposure changed.
Summary: I ordered a pair of these monitors because the pair of Dell monitors I ordered had different tints. One of the Dells was slightly more yellow than the other. I read that the problem was rather common across brands since many use the same LG supplied IPS LCD panel, but NEC was one of the exceptions.
Pros: Sharp, clear picture. No tint variation across the screen or between monitors.
Summary: Best display I have ever owned...period! The ips technology is incredible! This display is perfect for amateur photographers (like myself) who edit dslr images on lightroom and post them on web forums and social media. For those who do prints, you may need the wider adobe gamut on the pa241.
Pros: Great for professional photographers or graphic artists, or serious amateurs. If you want quality and value, this is the best monitor I could find. It works with NEC's SpectraViewII; which needs to be purchased separately. It also comes with its own software; Multiprofiler. I bought one from my w...
Cons: On one of the two monitors I recieved from Newegg; the top of the box was crushed. You could see all the way down to the top of the monitor. I figured it was damaged, for sure. Wrong... The packing was good enough that there was not even a scratch.
Summary: Color management is essential to professional grade digital photography and begins with a high quality, calibrated monitor. However, such monitors can cost thousands of dollars. The P241W is a professional monitor offered by a top vendor available through Amazon when I bought it for close to $600.
Summary: NEC was slow to bring this model to market & had low supplier distribution volume. New Egg did not have it available soon enough so I purchased it elsewhere for $50 less. I am glad I bought this monitor but I am disappointed that the value/performance ratio was not better when compared to Dell & HP.
Pros: Great quality, colors, contrast & deep blacks. I do a lot of photographic & video work but I didn't want wide gamut because I also do a lot of Office 2010 work & Internet use.
Cons: Cost versus performance ratio is too high. (Overpriced) The performance is not much better than the Dell & HP ips panel monitors valued at $400 - $500. Resolution levels are a little too broad.
