Summary: This is certainly a good monitor. I've been using it everyday now since 2010. I photo edit on it--the gamma adjustment went very well. I watch videos on it. I even play Xbox 360 games on it, which it is definitely not intended for, though does well enough. It is built very well and I suspect it will last me a good number of years. Things I am not fond of: The lack of an HDMI input.
Summary: Right from the start this screen was difficult to adjust, now, after 2.5 years it comes on then shuts off completely soon after the "on" button is pressed. Not what I expected from NEC. I would avoid this produce.
Summary: This monitor is really good for a back-lit LCD monitor. An excellent alternative to those highly priced IPS monitors. Even cheaper than Dell makes them. NEC is a quality monitor manufacturer that is not to be taken lightly. No dead pixels or anything on this monitor. I've heard complaints about the joystick-like control that is used to navigate the On-Screen Display.
Summary: I got this monitor a little more than a year ago after reading reviews praising it's out-of-box color accuracy and relatively low lag for gaming. Unfortunately, this monitor didn't serve me while in either respect. I am very sensitive to LCD lag and this displays got plenty of it. More than enough to make it noticeable when just moving the cursor around in windows. While it may have "accurate" colors, in real life it looks pretty "meh.
Summary: The image quality and color fidelity of this panel definitely exceeded my expectations. (I calibrated it with a Spyder and very nearly could not tell the difference between the A/B images at the end of calibration.) I wouldn't be surprised if you couldn't get a better display at this price.
Excellent monitor...with some units having color uniformity issues.

Summary: I have to first say that this is the best monitor I have ever owned. But it is also the worst. Let me explain. I first ordered this monitor in January. When it arrived, I was mightily impressed by the clean, professional bezel and matte screen. Before making this purchase, I carefully studied all of the alternative monitors in this size and price range. This NEC monitor is definitely the most aesthetically appealing in my eyes.
Great monitor, but watch out for defective direction-sticks
28 March 2011
Summary: When I first got the monitor, I was very impressed with the color, brightness, contrast, response times, stand adjustability, and cable management features. I recommended this monitor to everyone I thought would care and planned on buying another pair for a three-monitor Eyefinity rig. During that time, it was easily worth 5 stars. Unfortunately, when I decided to dial in the color settings, the directional stick used to navigate the on-screen menus broke off.
Summary: Editing... Found a dead pixel. And the regular story about it of course is: "That pixel doesn't damage my work vitally. BUT I AM THINKING ABOUT THAT PIXEL EVERY TIME I LOOK AT THE MONITOR." Not so happy to find it on a brand new purchase. BEFORE: Was choosing between ViewSonic and NEC. I took an advise for NEC's favor. Monitor is already assembled. Good quality. Speakers are good for the price. At least they're much better than on my laptop's speakers.
Summary: This monitor has met my expectations. As a casual photo editor, I have been satisfied with the colors with no adjustment. I set up the gamma in my graphics driver, and was good to go. I did not find the screen controls difficult to learn or use, with one exception, which has not been mentioned here, and which was not noted in the downloadable user manual: assume you've already turned off the eco-mode and auto-brightness.
