Excerpt: I got two screens for my MacBook Pro (late 2013). I update complex spreadsheets and multi-page text document contracts from one year to the next. I wanted a two screen set up to see prior year while working on current year. Because I work with excel and word, I wanted screens that can pivot between horizontal and vertical; adjustable backlighting and sharp text/numbers. I give these monitors high marks on all those items.
Summary: I bought this because it's the lowest monitor I could find, which is a factor when you wear bifocals. The stated height of 14.6 is technically accurate, but only when the screen is perfectly straight - once tilted, the top edge is 15-16" high. But still, if you wear bifocals, it's lower than most other monitors of this size and the only one I found with adjustable height. * Picture quality is excellent. * Base is super-sturdy because it's made to rotate 90 degrees.
Awesome stand, great resolution- brilliant design!

Summary: Brilliantly designed stand, elegant, swivels, turns, up/down... moves in every way I can imaging and yet feels solid! Display is nice and crisp (all the other monitors I tried had a resolution that looked like crap [pixelated] compared to my MacBook Pro) This one has a nice resolution and cool "auto turn off" function when it senses me walk away from my desk. Love this monitor! I ordered a second for another computer!
Summary: I spoke with NEC Tech Support. They were quick < 1 minute, to blame my video card as the root cause of the failed DVI input. which actually worked for about 3 seconds. The next day the HDMI input went.. Very disappointed. NEC used to make very high quality displays and their tech support personnel with concerned and knowledgeable.
Pros: Nice stand with good vertical adjustment and easy to turn swivel. Good image if you spend a lot of time fussing. Can't come close to matching a Sony Bravia in any respect.
Cons: DVI input wouldn't work. HDMI died on day 2. Very poor layout of color adjustment controls. Contrast, Brightness & Black level on one tab. Red, Green & Blue on another tab which also has the Presets and then LCD brightness on the third tab. What a PITA especially since changing tabs is slow and awkward There's No saturation, hue or sharpness/detail controls. Took hours to arrive at a good picture. Even so, you are left with a tough choice. Either dark with good color ...
