20 affordable IPS monitors group test: IPS to the people
24 September 2013
Excerpt: The computer monitor market for a long time was limited to two options for most consumers. Either you could get an affordable screen with a TN panel, or an extremely expensive yet superior one with IPS panel. In recent years that huge pricing gap has largely disappeared, and you can find IPS monitors that aren't that much more expensive than good TN screens. High time for Hardware.Info to take a closer look at 20 affordable IPS monitors.
Excerpt: If there’s such a thing as a budget IPS panel then the 23in widescreen, LED backlit, LG Flatron IPS231P is it. An IPS panel will set you back £30-£40 more than an equivalent TN panel; but the advantage is that the viewing angle is so much wider.
Budget IPS panel, extended stand can rotate to portrait, crisp display, great viewing angles, good range from highlights to shadows
Ports built into the underside of the back shelf, pricier than an equivalent TN panel, not a great deal of brightness
Excerpt: This LG monitor has the smallest screen size in our group test at 23in, but if you’re a sole trader working out of a small studio you can choose this display with confidence without worrying about skimping on quality – even though the price is extremely low. As for design, the slim-looking display is a little more streamlined than its closest rival – the LaCie 324i – but its build quality is good and solid.
Brilliant value, high-end panel features at low cost such as LED backlit panel built on IPS technology

Pros: Very good colour accuracy, black depth and contrast ratio, Decent ergonomic range, Competitively priced in this sector
Cons: Dynamic Contrast ratio did not work at all, Mediocre responsiveness in practice, Wobbly stand and stiff movements
Pros: Korrekte farger. Bra bildekvalitet. God skjermfot. Portrettmodus.
