LG Electronics 29UB65-P 29-Inch Screen LED-Lit Monitor
23 October 2014
Summary: I bought this last week and love it. The specs specifically say Resolution - 2560 x 1080, so I don't know what Nelson means. I connected the HDMI and it immediately shows that is what I am getting. This monitor (with ability to split to 4 screens) does away with the need for multiple monitors. Love the fact that I can watch TV on WMC, play Scrabble and keep my Email page open.
Excerpt: I recently purchased this monitor and its a incredible viewing experience and the 21: 9 aspect ratio is the future but since day one I've been experiencing a distracting amount of backlight bleed and discoloration making it hard to view movies or daily use without it being a bad viewing experience. i wouldn't recommend this monitor until this panel issue is resolved by LG.
Summary: This is a great monitor with a few set back. I have an Asus TN panel VE247H and viewing the content side by side has barely any lag between the two displays. This is my first ips panel so I can't say how good this monitor for an ips panel, but the color is so rich that an orange color object will look yellowish in a TN panel. For the con, dual link-up feels so clunky. It only supports pc input as source efficiently.
Pros: Rich color, brightness, decent lag
Cons: Dual link-up is useless unless both sources are pc, can't support console, viewing from the side will see different layer of light, changing brightness does nothing
Summary: I used LG monitor before this one which was awesome until panel has failed. Luckily i had a month of a warranty left to give me a full refund. Thus decided to get a new monitor and 21:9 seems pretty good. For my desk setup, i needed height adjustment so instead of "UM" series, I've decided get this model. 21:9 seems amazing, it feels like my eyes are rolling endlessly from one end to another.
Conclusion: Blown away by the size of the screen. Was a little skeptical at first when ordering as the measurements didn't look as though the monitor was that large compared to my 24" 16:9. Picture quality is sharp and colour is accurate with a little tweaking from factory settings. Movie watching and game play is excellent and immerse. Sound from the built in speakers is good enough for desktop work and light background music, with a pleasant balanced sound.
