Best old-style Thinkpad (maybe)

JPM, Amazon
19 March 2015
  • Summary: Great laptop, but heavy and with huge AC adapter, and so not very portable. Last in "W" series with the old style keyboard -- which, if you like this, makes it maybe one of the best of the post-IBM Thinkpads.

meh...

Otis Banks, Amazon
16 January 2015
  • Summary: Not bad. I have had a handful of issues but most of them very minor, and don't impact the functionality of the machine. My only knock on this laptop is that it cost way too much for what it is. Yes it's very fast, but overall quality doesn't justify that price.

My first encounter with a Thinkpad was in 2003 and it was a nice experience using that Laptop for several years

Anonymus, Amazon
19 November 2014
  • Summary: Let me first describe what my motivation was to pay about $1400 for the "state of the art" Laptop. My first encounter with a Thinkpad was in 2003 and it was a nice experience using that Laptop for several years. Several years after this, I had to use my wife's laptop for a while and it was so slow and it got me so frustrated that I decided, my next laptop would be the fastest and most reliable laptop that I know of: a Thinkpad.

  • Summary: Replaced a Macbook Pro with this laptop and 3 years later it's still running great. The 1920x1080 matte screen has great color reproduction and doesn't show reflections at all. Cooling is excellent, I can run the CPU and GPU both at 100% and the temps stay in the low 70s celsius. All four cores boost to about 2.5 ghz. Ergonomics are very good and the keyboard is the best you'll use on any laptop.

awesome

Khoa Minh Nguyen, Amazon
5 September 2014
  • Summary: I've been using a W520 for over 2 years. Very reliable, have not seen a crash even when it is very hot because of playing game. I upgraded to 32GB RAM and 256GB SSD, awesome, I could simulate a whole server stack for enterprise applications on it. Sometimes I play Starcraft and World of Warcraft, it performs well in High quality graphic + Full HD resolution.
