Summary: I bought this monitor in 2010, mostly to do color-correct illustration work and to have a large working space. There are many in-depth reviews so I will quickly just post a few thoughts: -the monitor has a kind of 'sparkly' coating on the screen, as was kind of a fad a few years ago on laptop computer screens. This is to reduce glare, but close-up on bright solid whites or colors it make an image look kind of 'dirty'.
Summary: I hope I haven't jinxed this but after 18 months, my ZR30w is still working fine. My Samsung 305t is another story. It failed a week before the warranty expired and I just got in under the deadline and the fixed one has just failed again today and is no longer under warranty and I'll not be dropping any more money into that thing. I'm looking for a replacement for the 305t and may pick up another ZR30w but the Dell looks good too.
Summary: This is Dreamcolor technology in a less expensive shell. Need I say more? The color values are crisp and clear. We create motion graphics for broadcast. This monitor was awesome out of the box. Ready to rock and we used it for our final color correction with very little tweaking. Anyone who needs a proper 30 bit monitor to QC their work will be very happy with one of these!
Excellent computer monitor, but slightly disappointed with media devices (lacks scaler)
14 July 2012
Summary: With a computer (using DVI or DP) this is an excellent monitor. Plug it in and you have as much desktop than with two 1080p monitors. However, I was slightly disappointed what I found that the monitor obviously has issues with media devices. Apparently it does not have a scaler and can only show few fixed resolutions.
Summary: I've had this monitor for a little over 4 months. I use it for gaming and it's extremely nice monitor apart from one annoying defect; it flickers. Well, not the whole screen, but just a portion of the screen - it's extremely hard to explain, so go to YouTube and watch the first hit for "HP ZR30W problem" (they don't allow links from here). I've called HP, and they are sending a replacement.
