An excellent monitor at a good price

  • Excerpt: I purchased this monitor after much research to replace a Samsung Syncmaster 21" monitor that cost almost $1,000 when purchased a number of years ago. The HP monitor arrived in perfect condition, set up without problem and had no bad pixels--which is consistent with the results of my research. The only issue was the excessive brightness on initial turn-on. But that is easily resolved with the software provided with the monitor.
  • Pros: Adjustable, Easy To Set Up, Sharp Image, Vivid Colors

Just what I was looking for

  • Excerpt: This is a solid 24" 16x10 display and it's working out great for me thus far. The colors are bright and vivid (even at 50% brightness) and I've found no dead/stuck pixels on my display. Height adjustments are a little awkward, but I'm using it in a set-and-forget kind of way so it doesn't really matter to me. It swivels with ease, which makes the well-placed USB ports even easier to access.

Good

  • Summary: The monitor has a solid construction and seems to be of good quality. The stand height is adjusted with ease and feels sturdy. The image is sharp and fairly accurate to the naked eye. I've owned this monitor for a few months now and I've had 0 issues, no dead pixels. The monitor has minimal bleed, which is only noticed when it's pitch black, - having said that, I don't think it's possible to find a 24" monitor that has virtually 0 back light bleed.

Obvious choice among large portrait displays

radyo "radyo", Amazon

  • Summary: If you need a large screen with portrait format, this is "it" among today's choices. Worthy color reproduction out of the box, with solid resolution and no dead pixels. We normally avoid HP because of their rotten customer service, but this was too good to pass up. That said, if you don't need swivel capability there are many choices, from HP and others, that are more or less as good for far less cost.

Excellent choice

  • Excerpt: Not cheap, but not exorbitant. Splendid image color and sharpness. As they say in the laundry detergent ads, your whites will really be white. Unlike the larger ZR2740w, this one has an OSD for adjustments, a peculiar omission in the other monitor. However, before ordering this, take care to ensure that you will not require a VGA connection, as this display does not have one.
  • Pros: Adjustable, Easy To Set Up, Sharp Image, Vivid Colors
  • Cons: No Vga Connection

Good upgrade!

  • Summary: I had two HP LP2475w monitors, but one stopped working not too long ago. I scouted for new monitors for a while and eventually found this one. I was planning on getting a Dell ultrasharp, but I read a bunch of reviews saying they had issue. I am glad I went with this monitor. In compairison to the LP2475 this ZR2440 is lighter and thinner although the base is a bit taller and the rotation locks a lot better. The color calibration out of the box is almost perfect.

Great quality picture at high resolution, high build quality.

  • Summary: The HP zr2440w has a 16:10 aspect ratio. Most computer monitors now have a 16:9 ratio. With 16:10 there is less scrolling. Also great resolution at 1920 x 1200 instead of 1920 x 1080. So you see more. And this monitor has excellent picture quality.

Better than expected

DanO, B&H Photo

  • Excerpt: I had a monitor die of old age, and needed to replace. For the last few years, I can't seem to find a 1920 x 1200 monitor locally (Fort Worth to Dallas). I can't stand working with a 1024 vertical resolution. I was working from the following shortlist, with the bigest negatives, noted: HP ZR2440w - NO VGA NEC EA244WMI - Not many reviews, to feel comfortable Dell UltraSharp U2412M - heavy AG coating, short life (6mo.) ASUS PA248Q - Blanking and Bleeding, short life (6mo.
