No discoloration, but plenty of other major problems.

Summary: Like most other reviewers, I thought this monitor was awesome, for a while. After about 2 years, I'm not seeing discoloration, but the monitor's software itself is freezing often. The buttons stop responding, and any menus on the screen permanently stay there. (It happens only when turning the monitor on or waking it up from sleep.
Excerpt: I bought 2 of them at Staple Oct last year 2013, one of them stop working today. The warranty is just expired so up set right now. I'm using dual monitors so might have to buy exactly the same one. I like these monitors a lot; text is very sharp an clear - color is vivid - very good looking monitor. I wish it should last longer - at least two years. i just put 2 for rating due to the poor quality built. the last 5 digit of SN: XXXXX202GM.
Summary: Back light died after 1 yr and 4 months. I never liked the monitor that much, but it was nice while it lasted. The text was hard to read for some reason no matter how much I adjusted the settings.
Summary: This monitor lasted all of 13 months, when it worked it had a very nice picture but this monitor has a known problem which is ghosting when you can still see the page you were just on through the page your on now. It started happening after 10 months but went away to after the warranty was over which is 12 months. Won't be buying another HP that's for sure. Bought a new monitor BenQ Gaming Monitor RL2455HM from Amazon and when I get it I will review it.
Summary: I purchased this monitor in April 2013 and was very happy with the size and clarity. Fast forward to Feb 2014 and I noticed small horizontal lines on the left-hand side of the monitor going to the right for about 6 inches plus a pinkish hue to the area. Also, when I go to my desktop screen, I can see ghosts of the applications I have open through the lines - like the lines are minute window blinds. Luckily I have a year warranty on the monitor.
Excerpt: Nice monitor and great price from Staples. But purchased at the end of Sept 2013 and multiple pixels are now dead after just 2 weeks of use. They are localized to one area of the screen. Poor reliability HP! If I experienced this, then its almost sure many of these monitors have this problem but maybe some people don't notice. Staples is exchanging for a new one but be careful of the return policy as they say its only 14 days for electronic items.
Pros: Easy To Set Up, Lightweight, Sharp Image, Vivid Colors
Summary: If you want to see rainbowish color and oily on your screen get this, also the built quality is very cheap its like i can just flick it and it will break in pieces, i returned this and got the Dell S244L much better.
Summary: I bought 2 of these just over a year ago and both have now failed in exactly the same manner within weeks of each other i.e.. image failure down the left hand side, not sure if it's the backlight or not. Would not recommend, as a fail just after 12months is not a great recommendation.
