Only buy if you need it for a year or less. Otherwise, get used to 1/3 of screen being sickly green.

Summary: If your favorite color is sickly green and you just can't get enough, or if you only need a decent monitor for about a year, and plan to upgrade this is the way to go. I was neither of those. After 1 year, you WILL get horizontal green lines on the left third of the monitor. I purchased this monitor in October of 2013. Three days ago, it began showing horizontal green lines on 1/3 of the left side of the screen.
Summary: Loved my monitor til it got pink lines on the left hand side after 2 years - just out of warranty. And reading the HP support forum there are others out there with the same problem and HP aren't listening.

Summary: It worked right away with my Macbook Air out of the box. (I purchased a Thunderbolt HDMI cable at the same time). So that was nice! But the crispness of the screen isn't as good as I was hoping. The MacBook has a very sharp picture, and the HP Monitor one isn't nearly as good. But it's bigger so that's what matters. I needed a bigger screen for everyday work...I was getting neck strain looking at a small laptop monitor all the time.
Summary: Good monitor for the price. I needed another monitor to hook up to my desktop (dual monitor setup). This is a nice monitor. It has a beautiful display. My documents and photos are sharp and crisp. There is software included with the monitor that helps to adjust the brightness, contrast, etc. After loading the software, I was able to adjust the controls on both my monitors. Now the display on my old monitor (also an HP monitor) look just as good as the new monitor.
Summary: Great until the discoloration began, and horizontal lines... I sent one back to hp after a hellish phone call (they had an extremely hard time understanding every single thing I said, and it's not me, I do phone support/customer service) so they send me a replacement and it does the same thing in a month and they told me too bad. The discoloration/lines on the second monitor started on the right side, disappeared for about a week, then on to the left side.
Green tint appeared on left side of monitor after ~1 year of use.

Summary: I would love to give HP the benefit of the doubt with this monitor because it has been pretty much the best monitor I've ever used, aside from the fact that it is a tad bright at night, even with the brightness turned all the way down. Unfortunately I can't really give HP much slack because the problem I have now is apparently a very common one with this model. I was lucky enough to get about a year out of this model before the "green tint" finally appeared.
Excerpt: I bought 2 of them at Staple Oct last year 2013, one of them stop working today. The warranty is just expired so up set right now. I'm using dual monitors so might have to buy exactly the same one. I like these monitors a lot; text is very sharp an clear - color is vivid - very good looking monitor. I wish it should last longer - at least two years. i just put 2 for rating due to the poor quality built. the last 5 digit of SN: XXXXX202GM.
Summary: True, I bought mine from HP directly, but looks like I am not able to write an review. 5 months after the warranty is over, this monitor now has some reddish tint only on the left side and icons show grainy. When I move the icon to right side, it is just fine. I tried another cable no change. I tried another monitor no issue. I found many other buyers that complain about the same thing. HP will not accept that the monitor is DEFECTIVE.
