Summary: I recommend 8ms or faster response time, the pivoting screen and the USB ports that this monitor has. Surprisingly, it was worth the extra money for those features(used them more than I thought I would). I do not rec' LCD, for all the well-known reasons. As it turns out, they are all true.
Pros: Versatile and after 6 years(purchased Aug 2008) still going strong.
Cons: As with all LCD, dead pixels. A few developed in lower left corner ~ 2 years after purchase. They are still growing - now a blotch. There are also just a couple of tiny ones in the main viewing area. I, of course, would prefer the same quality as afforded by CRT and not have the spots.
Nice to find a good square monitor for productivity
17 April 2014
Summary: It is insane that most of the monitors today are 16:9 movie aspect ratio. I don't want to sit on my computer and watch movies. I want to get work done. A paper is long, not wide. Compounded by Microsoft's new "ribbon" top menu schema, wide monitors are just not for productivity.
Summary: Bought two just before they got really hard to find. For general workstation use, this has been a solid performer for me for nearly 5 years now.
Pros: Wide viewing angle, Sleep mode works great No bad pixels no distortion Multiple positions - tilt, rotate 90 degrees, swivel, plenty of height Clear and Bright All necessary cables No reflection screen
Cons: May as well finish the saga. As per my previous followup, one of the pair I bought in Fall 2007 failed after a year and HP reluctantly replaced it, though as I noted then, the replacement had coil whine. Forward another 20 months and the whine worsened and the thing started winking out randomly. ...
Summary: I didn't buy from newegg but i feel like i should comment on this product> my company recently purchased (33) LP2065 monitors dirrectly from HP. After only one month (9) have developed white spots, thats a failure rate of nearly 1/3!!! Also the matte finish DOES make the screen blury.
Pros: Were nice at first
Cons: DO NOT BUY! See below> 1 out of 3 will go bad!!! Seems like a QA issue for these screens
Summary: I guess HP must have had a bad manufacturing run at the China factory, but how in the heck 3 of 4 monitors I got went bad is beyond my concept of modern quality control
Pros: The screen definition is excellent and the viewing angle is wide, as advertised
Cons: I bought 4 monitors at the same time. 3 of the 4 have developed the exact same defect - bright white dots 1/4 to 1/2" at the edge of the screen. I returned one monitor and got a replacement from HP with several stuck pixels. I am getting ready to return another 2 while still in warranty because m...
Summary: I am no fan of dell. I think they generally make garbage. But this hp2065 matte finish makes this the worst product I have purchased in my entire life, by far. There's a good lesson here about newegg reviews.
Pros: Yes, it is pretty, just like fishing lures are pretty. (But always remember that most fish are mostly color blind, and that most fishermen are unaware, color infatuated idioots.) That said, the matte finish problem (explained below) detracts even from photo viewing/etc. *and* even video viewing (...
Cons: The matte finish on this monitor is offensively smeary and blurry. It is a lot like someone smeared cooking oil all over it. Yes, matte finishes are a good thing if you have a lot of reflections to worry about, but they come at the price of blur. If you read text, especially if you read a lot, th...
Cons: Others have mentioned the anti-glare, however after sitting in front of two all day at work; it has a holographic grainy effect that starts to bother my eyes. To the point that I have replaced one with a CRT. Any long reading I put it on the CRT.
Summary: I got these monitors directly from HP when they had a big sale with free shipping, so I can only be but so upset with the backlight bleed defect, assuming they replace the next two monitors as quickly as the first one.
Pros: Great color and image detail. Acceptably wide viewing angle. I use 4 of them in a row for a trading workstation and other than some minor color shift when viewing the far edges, they work just fine.
Cons: I already had to return one within 2 months and am getting ready to return an additional two. All have the same problem which is a very noticeable backlight bleed at the upper left edge of the screen. It looks like someone turned on a white, LED flashlight behind the screen it's so bright. Over t...
