User Review

Brandon M., Newegg
29 December 2013
  • Summary: I'm glad it's not mine, honestly it's so shoddy I'd rather watch it burn than watch a movie on it. This is why I don't buy HP products an NEVER recommend them. There was more but I forgot.
  • Pros: Works, has speakers
  • Cons: Power plugin is touchy, screen looks washed out no matter how much I manipulate the RGB, the 1080p scaling is unintelligent and overflows so I cant see the entire thing. Really not very bright, when I plug it in with hdmi I have have choppy frames on my laptop screen that's never happened before ...

Speakers no longer work

Steven G., Newegg
9 February 2011
  • Summary: I have always been a HP monitor/printer-scanner/computer advocate but with this turnabout I am seriously dissapointed with their quality control
  • Pros: Great resolution and refresh rate. VERY crisp picture with no ghosting whatsoever.
  • Cons: The only reason I purchased this monitor was due to the monitor/speaker combo which saved greatly on space. As of last night the speakers decided to stop working. I did a factory reset, no luck. I swaped speakers from the PC and the PC is putting out sound so it is specifically the monitor speake...

The best at this price range

Charles T., Newegg
19 June 2010
  • Summary: I purchase tons of stuff online and rarely write reviews, but I just had to spread the word on this monitor, it's well worth the money!
  • Pros: Excellent picture, sharp text and graphics, vibrant colors. I also own a samsung lcd and a viewsonic 1080p lcd and this monitor beats them both handily. For a tn panel monitor, you get amazing picture quality. Absolutely awesome for games and movies, just a beautiful monitor. Perfect for those wh...
  • Cons: The glossy surface does reflect much more than other lcd's I've used but it's very much worth the trade off due to the quality of the picture.

eye candy

Nickolas N., Newegg
5 June 2010
  • Summary: the asus monitors i saw were nearly as crisp as these, but my eye still always went to the hp. also, i found the menu of the hp monitors more intuitive than the asus ones; but, they might be worth checking out too i had to order this monitor online, which made me a little nervous.
  • Pros: very crisp, bright, and clear the size is perfect too, any bigger might actually be too big, unless you sit more than a couple of feet behind your monitor. i'm sitting about 2 and a half feet away, and any wider would start going into my peripheral vision i went to a bunch of stores to actually c...
  • Cons: i honestly haven't run into any yet

  • Summary: My CRT broke on me, and I had to go to a local retailer for an immediate replacement. I usually buy all my stuff from Newegg, but had to shell out the extra bux for an emmediate fix. I am extremely happy w/ this monitor.
  • Pros: True HD and beautiful picture, both on PC and PS3 (HDMI) No dead pixels high quality throughout (except built in speakers [speaker vents are in rear)
  • Cons: One of the speakers started crackling (like it blew out) 3 days after being hooked up via HDMI on the PS3. It would not stop me from buying another if the need arose. Honestly no one really cares about built in speaker performance.

  • Summary: Overall, it's a great monitor!
  • Pros: This monitor is just simply beautiful. I got it with a bundle pack. The clarity is amazing and no dead pixels! I use it for school and gaming.
  • Cons: Every once in a while, it makes a popping noise. It's annoying sometimes.

Trouble for dual monitor setup

Morgan K., Newegg
18 March 2010
  • Summary: As a stand-alone monitor it seemed fine, but there's definitely something odd going on with its ability to be detected properly. There's a hundred similarly spec-ed and priced monitors out there, I'd avoid this one.
  • Pros: Looked great as a single monitor via DVI, awesome tech support
  • Cons: I'm not exactly sure, still, what the issue was, but, basically, the monitor wouldn't detect properly as a second monitor no matter what settings were used on any of the digital source options (DVI, HDMI) and on VGA would only show up at 768 resolution. I spent hours with the HP techs, and they w...

Best Purchase Ever

Xue L., Newegg
10 March 2010
  • Summary: The response time is great and the 1920x1080 native resolution looks stunning on a 21''. everything is so crisp so clear... when you go to a website you can now see the pixelization of many images that you couldn't with a bad monitor.
  • Pros: The greatest purchase I've made in over $3,000 worth of spending on Newegg over several years. Looks almost as good as a Apple monitor but with better game performance. The glossy screen and finish is unparrell to a lot of other monitors out there.
  • Cons: people weren't kidding about the speakers, they're really high and almost no low end. the volume does not get loud

5 March 2010
  • Summary: The black protruding bars around the screen seem to attract the dust away from the screen itself. If this was intended, it's very cool.
  • Pros: Haven't had a single problem with it since day one. Works and looks beautiful. It also seems to be hard to find monitors with this particular type of stand, which is what I was looking for.
  • Cons: The menu's a bit funny to navigate through with just four buttons, but then again most monitors' are.
