Gateway XHD3000 Review

12 December 2007
  • Conclusion: The Gateway Extreme HD 30″ LCD monitor (XHD3000) is more than just a beautiful monitor – it’s a full-fledged HD video display that will upscale even the most gorgeous 1080p HD movies to 1600p; the colors, brightness and clarity are all very impressive. Stills and video look breathtakingly accurate.
  • Pros: Eye-popping 2560x1600 screen res; supports multiple HD resolutions; gorgeous design
  • Cons: Screen height cannot be adjusted; menu navigation can be finicky

Gateway XHD3000 30-inch LCD Display Review

7 October 2007
  • Summary: I am both impressed and a tad disappointed in the XHD3000 display from Gateway. It definitely hits more than it misses, but the lack of a backlight control means that you'll never truly have those deeper blacks that are difficult – but possible – with LCD technology. The HQV was engaged and worked very very well, though it was obvious that at least some remnants of jaggies will exist when scaling 480i all the way up to 1600p. I can live with the results.
  • Pros: Cool capacitance touch controls, Highest resolution PC monitor available, HQV Realta processing, Component supports 1080p
  • Cons: Poor black levels (no backlight adjustment), Auto-input mode gets fooled by hibernation, PIP only works with dual-link DVI-D, Mediocre remote, Most picture controls disabled for DVI-D
