Summary: I bought mine used for $20 so I was very pleased with the nice large picture and the fact that it can be used as a tv also. My screen has gone blank a few times. I just unplug the power from under it and put it right back in. Works great and not all that inconvenient, so if you have this problem, hopefully this info will help. I love mine.
Summary: I bought the FPD2185W monitor with a package in 2005 and it went until 2010 before it had the same problem that is mentioned all over the web. The capacitors failed and I took it to a local shop where my main man found the bad capacitors and replaced them them and it just crapped out again (April 2012) but for the very good reason that my repair man saved me a couple of dollars and didn't replace ALL the capacitors.
Summary: What I like about this is its clear picture and wide screen size for the price. But MAN why does the Gateway icon stay on the screen so long when I turn the thing on??? I'll turn on the monitor to send an email and I have to sit there for what seems like forever before the icon goes away telling me it's a ^%$# Gateway monitor!!!
"One of the best, has excellent side angle viewing."

Pros: Just an awesome monitor.
Cons: Mine lasted 2 years. So I loved the monitor so much I took a repair course for electronics. I repaired it. been working ever since. If you get into this situation, maybe I can help with yours. Sprint6@zoominternet.net.
Summary: I feel compelled to right a review in light of how many 1 stars this thing has. I've owned this monitor for a few years now. I bought it back in 2007 to use as both a replacement for my giant CRT and a cheap alternative for not owning an HDTV at the time. It was a great purchase. Picture quality is excellent. Size is great. Pretty light (although the base is heavy, but it keeps it very stable). Great viewing angles, highly adjustable high and angles.
Pros: Works with all PC window XP, Vista and windows 7. Monitor has nothing to do with operating system. If it does not work for you on another PC then i would look at your video card, most likely its the culprit.
Cons: I would never ask Gateway for any support because all their support comes out of India. I have nothing against the Indians its just that they search their database to find problems you have and really never even seen the product you need help with. And th
Summary: Count me as another in the crowd who loved this monitor for two years. Now I can only enjoy it if the only interaction I desire with it is watching the blue light in the power button flicker. When I contacted Gateway for an RMA, here is what I was told: gateway: "Find a local repair shop." me: "Sure, where can I find a list of authorized service centers." gateway: "We do not have that information.
Summary: I've had this monitor now for over 2 1/2 years. It has an exceptionally clear picture, it's very attractive and trouble free. The stand that comes with it is very stable, and allows for up and down movement as well as front to back movement. Works very well as a gaming monitor because of it's fast response time. I purchased the speaker bar that mounts underneath, and it too works flawlessly with very good sound for a computer monitor.
