Summary: I bought this product as a 2nd monitor for processing images. My iMac 27" provides a glossy LED screen while the Dell a flat mat finish. The monitor controls are easy to adjust and the 30" format is sufficient for my imaging work. However, the monitor was purchased used and has a technical issue where it goes directly into sleep mode when turned on. To correct this, I have to switch off the monitor and switch it back on again.
Summary: When it arrived it had a number of defective areas on the screen. It wasn't serious enough to make me return it outright, but over time they make me more and more irritated. Anyways, good monitor, but make sure you are happy with the quality out of the box.
Anti reflective coating creates noise & sparkles everywhere
Adam Sands, Amazon
16 April 2013
Summary: I rarely write reviews on Amazon because I buy a few hundred products each year and most are great. There's rarely a time when something is so bad that I take the time to write a review. This is one of those times. I was looking for a monitor for my Macbook Pro Retina and decided to go with this Dell monitor seeing as it had pretty good reviews and was also the largest size display I could get.
Summary: I got one of these monitors last week for the large amount of real estate. But after having it for a week or so, I have to say its really NOT worth the price. It has an annoying buzz when the backlight is at a usable brightness which is VERY distracting. Additionally, the anti-glare coating imparts a graininess to the image which is very distracting, especially when a lot of whitespace is present in the image.
"Beware if you don't have a DVI or DisplayPort port."
28 September 2012
Pros: I's big. No question about that.
Cons: - It only supports the advertised resolution with a DVI or DisplayPort connection. - Make sure you have one of these ports on your computer. -The color and quality is mediocre. For the price, I expected more. -It is overpriced for what you get.
Pros: * it's huge * ports * buttons / menus * in theory, a great screen under the anti-glare * good return policy / service
Cons: ANTI-GLARE DISTORTS/SPARKLES THE COLOR. Seriously. I couldn't work on this monitor without getting a headache. The anti-glare makes whites and light grays sparkle a lot. The angle you're looking at the screen determines where you see sparkles. So,
Cons: 10 year old technology. Exceptionally expensive for decade old design. Huge heat creator. Very inefficient. Dell has fallen behind in producing cutting edge products. Also, Dell does not support their products after three years. Bummer.
Summary: I bought this monitor to help make life more productive. I was upgrading from a 24 inch monitor. I must say that I was rather underwhelmed. The colours were rather washed out and the text was fuzzy. I was expecting something that was "Ultrasharp" but it seemed far from that. I tried it on a second PC and that was no better. In the end I just sent it back for a refund.
Summary: First of all, the monitor is great. I don't complain about the product quality. I complain about Amazon's missleading product information and their lack of control on their stock (selling old models as new). 1) I ordered this monitor on 4th May for £876.96, arrived 8th May. The amazon page advertised it as "latest 2012 model, REV A06, 5 year dell premium panel warranty". - *WRONG!* What I received is an old 2011 model, different revision and with only 3 years warranty.
