Summary: I've been a fan of the ultrasharp monitors for many years but this one has been just a big disappointment. Picture quality is good except for whites having stripes at certain viewing angles. This seem to be way it is supposed to be since it has been the same on all my 5 monitors. Yes, five. I've gone through five monitors since they keep failing.
Summary: I have tried 4 times on this monitor. All 4 are defective. I'm purchasing this monitor primarily for coding. So I have relatively high tolerance on backlight bleeding, but little tolerance on local defects such as: 1. dead pixels 2. dust blobs (usually 1~3 mm in diameter, looks like some dirt spot on the monitor. However you can't wipe them off since they are located beneath the panel. These defects are dusts captured between backlight and IPS panel during assembly.
Summary: I was very disappointed with the quality control of this monitor. I am a big fan of Dell monitors and use the U3011 at work. This looked like the right product to upgrade my 24" monitor but I should have paid more attention to the negative reviews. On my monitor the right half of the screen contained large regions of flashing pixels that were visible under every background except solid white. And by large I mean 3" x 4" patches.
Summary: This monitor was obviously a monitor that somebody else had returned because it was defective. AND I THINK IT IS DEFECTIVE AS WELL!
Pros: Purchased 2 Dell Monitors. One does not have any problems.
Cons: Second monitor had dead pixels in a prominent location on screen. My 30 day return period with Newegg was up so I contacted Dell. Dell support tediously required me to wade through a bunch of tests to verify the dead pixels; took about 3 hours for the tech support person to believe that I really had dead pixels. Finally, he agreed to send me a replacement monitor. The replacement monitor was clearly marked "Refurbished" and while it did not have any dead pixels, it ha...
Summary: The monitor had serious 'cross-hatching' effect (diagonal lines) all over the screen. The lines were quite faint and just noticeable enough to be distracting, especially on white backgrounds and around the bottom of the screen. I could even see them in movies and games some times.
Pros: As usual, Dell give you a good setup of cables with the monitor. It's pre calibrated from factory and is ready to go when you get it. The monitor had good colors and brightness as usual from Dell UltraSharp monitors. But that is about it this time.
Cons: Before this monitor, I loved Dell monitors. I have owned a Dell u2711 that I loved and I have friends that also love there Dell monitors in the UltraSharp series. But this monitor changed all that for me, or at least I won't go for the cheaper UltraSharp versions next time.
Summary: Bought 1 unit to test it out. It's great, no complains. Bought 3 more to outfit my office, all 3 have bad image retention issues and it just seems to be getting worse. For example, using a web browser (where the address bar provides a fairly consistent white rectangle on the screen for a while) for more than a few minutes result in having a noticeable discolored rectangle in that position until you run the monitor's "LCD conditioning" routine for just as long.
Strongly advise against buying this model from Amazon at the moment

Summary: I bought this monitor a week ago and am experiencing the same backlight bleeding and cross-hatch effect that other customers have reported. Based on what a Dell customer rep just told me, I'd advise against buying this monitor from Amazon until Amazon gets new models for which at least the backlight issue has (allegedly) been fixed. I bought the U2713HM on Amazon on July 7 based on The Wirecutter's review: http://thewirecutter.com/reviews/a-great-27-inch-lcd-monitor/.
Summary: This would be an excellent monitor if it were not for one huge problem. The backlight bleeding is just terrible, making this monitor completely unusable. I was initially amazed at the color and the sharpness of the screen so this is a great disappointment. I have seen many other people complaining about this issue. I am sending it back and hoping to get another monitor with less bleeding. This could easily be a five star for me if the backlighting was not an issue.
