Improper substituion with wide screen monitor w/ less resolution

R. Hackley "Rick Hackley", Amazon
8 January 2014
  • Summary: I ordered a 2408WPF (1900x1200 native resolution) which was originally a $500+ monitor and has the 2 DVI-D connections I need to swap the dual monitor set up between 2 different PCs. I received a wide screen 1080p max resolution media monitor that only has 1 DVI-D connection. I ordered this to match my existing 2408WPF monitor as my other matching monitor is failing.

Difficult to calibrate and failing after 3 years of use

Elizabeth L. Alexander, Amazon
3 February 2012
  • Summary: I've had this monitor for just over 3 years. It only outlasted the manufacturer 3 year warranty by 5 months. From the beginning, I found it very difficult to accurately calibrate this monitor (using Spyder 3 Pro). I expected a lot more from a monitor that cost $600 when it first came out. In contrast I have a much less expensive low end Sharp LCD monitor still going strong after 7 years of heavy use. Definitely will not be purchasing another monitor from Dell.

Lots of features and you really get what you pay for. It's cheap.

  • Summary: My wife does serious photography editing and design, and she has an Apple 24" LED Cinema display. It is stunning, and very easy on the eyes. On the other hand, I do a lot of programming and email, so I originally didn't care about color and looks and bought a Dell 2408wfp purely based on specifications. This Dell is a big step up from my 20" Dell that's about 5 years old.
