Summary: I purchased the 1708 because I needed the space also I couldn't mount a webcam on my old monitor. It has been a pleasant surprise, the image is better that I expected and I would definately buy another one.
Summary: I bought it because the monitor I had crapped out. I bid on this one,it was cheap it does the job. It is not as good as the one I had but it gives me much more space. Well worth the money it cost!
Summary: Low priced LCD for desktop use, bright and punchy. Unsuitable for critical color work, brightness/contrast and color profiles are insufficiently adjustable for pre-press production. That said, at 10% of the price for a color-corrected graphics display your expectations should be less.
Dell Ultrasharp 1708FP: A good TFT with the dell logo
19 June 2009
Summary: A good TFT monitor that is currently being used on a daily basis. Would recommend to frieds and others. Have purchased approx 50 of these monitors. They come with the good reputation of all dell equipment, and the added bonus of the warranty to cover any issues that may arise within the warranty period. Smart design with crisp clear display with all of the normal functionality of most monitors to include manual colour adjustments and orientation settings.
Summary: I was always reluctant to make the move to an LCD monitor originally. I always stuck with large screen CRTs because the brightness and picture quality couldn't be beaten by the first couple of generations of LCD monitors. I bought a Samsung 15 inch LCD a couple of years ago, and was using it quite happily up until this week when someone gave me this Dell monitor. Now I see what I've been missing.
