Summary: yes, It is slightly outdated. But I am not rich and I wanted a monitor to hook to my laptop. I have searched for months for one and found this for 30 bucks... It arrived earlier then expected and the company (arrow direct) was VERY helpful and even included a stand for the monitor FREE! They also have a money back guarantee and reply quickly! After it arrived (when I went to write a review) I saw that the price dropped to 20 DOLLARS!!!!
Summary: What a great deal and a GREAT monitor at a very very inexpensive cost. Purchased this for my 8 camera video surveillance system and it works flawlessly. The HDMI, and USB connector availability along with the screen capability to move up, down, pivot, and turn 90 degrees makes it a perfect monitor for folks desiring a smaller monitor with all the bells and whistles, and at a great price.
Summary: I bought this UltraSharp 17 inch in 2003 when it was called the 1703FP. Three years ago, I bought the 24 inch UltraSharp 2405U. I use them side by side. The 1703FP doesn't have quite the brightness of the 2405U, but as far as sharpness in letters, lines, and other delineations there is no difference. I would expect the brightness on the 1708FP is probably better than on my 2405U now.

Summary: I purchased this Monitor about a month ago now and I can say I am completely satisfied with the quality of the monitor and the service. Even though the company I purchased this monitor from said it was in good condition, this was an understatement to say the least. The monitor arrived in secure packaging and in excellent condition. There were very few blemishes that I could find. There were no dead pixels and the screen was bright and clear.
