Summary: Please note: If you average out the reviews during the most recent 15 month period the average customer review falls well bellow it's lifetime average of 4.5 stars. The monitor went through a redesign and is no longer the monitor it once was. We just received 2 Dell UltraSharp U2412M monitors at my company (Rev A01). One has the yellow background tint problem that many reviewers have referred to and the other does not.
Summary: I bought my first U2412M about two years ago, revision A00 and it's EXCELLENT. It's vivid, colorful, and perfect for everything I need in a monitor. However, I just recently bought a second monitor from Amazon and the overall hue was YELLOW, as described by some of the negative reviews here. I spent hours trying to reconfigure the color settings with my monitor, my video card (it can do the second monitor separately), and resetting factory settings. Nothing worked.
Excerpt: I read the yellow tint reviews but didn't heed the warnings. received the dell u2412m for the purpose of photo editing. all went well until I brought up some photos. Yes indeed yellow tint very apparent. my wife even noticed. sent it back and upgraded to a ASUS PB278Q. hoping for the best.
Pros: Adjustable, Easy To Set Up, Lightweight, Sharp Image
Summary: This was a great monitor. I originally purchased one in September of 2012, and I still use it all of the time. I decided to purchase another one recently so I could move to a dual monitor setup. The new version of this monitor has a very obvious yellow tint to everything. It's glaringly obvious next to the U2412M I purchased in 2012. I returned it and ordered another one. Exact same issue. I ordered a third directly from Dell.
Summary: I have two of these monitors, one in the office and one at home and I love them. I decided to add a second to each location, starting with home. I set the new one up next to the existing one and noticed the color was completely different. I spent the next hour messing with the colors and configurations to get it to be the same as my existing (very sharp) monitor but alas, couldn't.
Received a version A00 made in December 2013, had Yellow Tint
26 February 2014
Summary: I bought one of the Dell U2412M about 2 years ago and received a rev A03, great monitor, good colors, etc.. Figured that the U2412M will be no longer sold soon as its a bit long in the tooth, so I ordered a new (Amazon sold) Dell U2412M, and even though it was Manufactured December 2013, it was a rev A00, but had a nasty yellow tint.
Summary: I was sent Revision A00 monitor. I have 2 of the same monitor at Revision A02. My Revision A02 monitors are much brighter and have a very bright white. When I hooked this monitor up to it all I can tell you is that it had a yellow tint. Yes I tried defaults, setting at my other monitors values, and even downloading some special profile for it. Either way it still had yellow tint just like every body says online.
Summary: The colors are washed out and there is a very distinctive yellow tint to the screen.Tried adjusting the colors and white balance as well as several different icc color profiles, and this did not help. The display is totally unusable.
Summary: I bought this item today, I spend 4 hours to calibrate my monitor's colors. But the white color is yellowish even in 7900K!. When I cool down to 9600K, yellowness mixes with the cool blue and white seems greenish. I called the dell support, they claimed that this is not a technical issue!
Good luck explaining backlight bleed to Dell support.

Summary: Purchased two monitors. Had each one exchanged twice. Backlight bleed was so terrible, I thought it HAD to be the result of defective units. Nope, Dell makes them this way. If you're willing to see past the backlight issues, another frustration I ran across is the inability to watch 16:9 content without having it scale to fill the screen. That means any 1080 input will always be distorted. (There is an option to center letterbox 4:3 content, but not 16:9).
