Summary: When the monitor first arrived, it was basically perfect. No display issues whatsoever. After approximately 2 weeks, vertical banding suddenly began to appear. This appears to be related to the input circuitry on the monitor itself.
Pros: Even backlighting, good response time for an IPS panel, decent feature set for a low cost IPS monitor, intuitive ODS.
Cons: Lacks HDMI input. Oh, yeah, and after 2 weeks it started having major issues.
Excerpt: I often need a lot of workspace on my monitors so this was a great upgrade from a 19" monitor. I was looking for a a good versatile monitor at a reasonable price that would work well for my music production as well as some photo and video editing.
Summary: I used to trust Dell UltraSharp series, but this one doesn't live to my expectations. But I guess you get what you pay for. Overall not too bad for a budget panel, but I wish Dell would advertise it as such.
Pros: Sharp, high contrast and bright. Cheap.
Cons: Cheap. This monitor uses low end e-IPS panel that has 6-bits per channel. They get advertised 16.78M colors through dithering, similarly to TN panels. As a result you can see flickering artifacts on color gradients as well as very high contrast ratio. Not a big deal for office applications, but a...
Excerpt: I bought a pair of U2412M monitors for use in a dual monitor display. With a black background, it is apparent that the backlight significantly bleeds through (rather uniformly), reducing the monitors' effective light to dark ratio.
Summary: I would not recommend these screens, simply because their display on white backgrounds (or mainly white images) is simply terrible. There's a significant blue gradient in the middle of both my screens preventing me to do any graphics work and it's extremely annoying when browsing too.
Pros: Nice large display Great display when lots of colours are on screen
Cons: HUGE colour differences between displays Blue gradient preventing any real graphics work on white backgrounds Flimsy bevel
Summary: This replaced a comparatively small CRT for me, so all it had to do was work when plugged in to impress me, really, and it did just that. I ordered in November and received Rev A00, Manufactured September 2013
Pros: Big, bright (viewable 10% brightness in daylight), pleasant viewing angles, no dead pixels or bleeding.
Excerpt: I mainly use this for photo editing. 16: 10 aspect ratio is great. I was a little leery after using high end Apple monitors for years but after I wore the last one out and reading several reviews I decided to try this Dell.
Pros: Adjustable, Easy To Set Up, Lightweight, Sharp Image, Vivid Colors
