Summary: The monitor looks great when you look at it seated directly in front of it. But, I am disappointed with it because it has three dead pixels (little black spots on the screen). Dell says this is acceptable within the industry standard. So, no help given. $300.00 lighter and so unsatisfied. I am unable to recommend this because of the quality of the item I received and the lack of help from the manufacturer and distributor.
Summary: I bought two U2412M monitors about a month ago. I was so excited to extend my MB Pro display. I wasn't to believe that these monitors would match the display of Retina. I connect these montiors through Thunderbolt port and DVI.
Excerpt: Pro: I use it for spreadsheets and retouching and editing photography. Very sharp, good color and no adjustments were necessary. Con: Slightest vibration and the monitor shakes which takes away from the quality of which Dell is noted for. I would have been happy paying half the price for this model. It is just not stable on the support bar.
Excerpt: I use this monitor mainly for ameture photography photo editing. For the price, this monitor is hands down the best I have ever used. Great color right out of the box. A tad brite but not a retina burnner.. Great buy...
Pros: Easy To Collaborate Across Programs, Easy to Customize, Easy to Navigate, Versatile
Excerpt: This is my second IPS monitor and I am very pleased. I took it out of the box, plugged it in, ran the Huey Pro calibration and began using it. My old monitor has CFL backlight vs the Dell U2412M. One thing I notice is that my old monitor "warmsup" for the first 5 min or so, vs the U2412M which appears to be ready to go immediately. I didn't find it necessary to install the CD or make any setting changes to the monitor.
Excerpt: First and foremost, for Photoshop work. 5 Stars. For Netfilx and again 5 Stars. The Resolution is superb. Color outstanding. Only negative is that the on-liner user manual is not as useful as it could be, and the info that comes with the monitor will just barely help you set it up. This means that working the color controls at the lower right is a guessing game until you realize what allows you to do what. The 24" screen size is a eyeful! Good buy for the money!
Summary: I bought this from the Dell Outlet site. I've been living off on an 19" Ultrasharp my own company gave me and another one I had lying around. I missed having two 23" monitors at my old job but didn't need dual screens for working in the home office (no expansive VMware environments to manage there). I was eyeing this screen for a long time but like with all great screens, they come at a price. When I saw this one for $250 (at $380 new), I jumped at it.
Excerpt: Fantastic monitor! The stand is rock solid. It can be raised up or down easily, and it tilts without needing two people to adjust it. Image is very bright, crisp and pleasing. Highly recommended.
