Summary: I have an old 2209wa monitor with LCD back light. From what I have seen, the coating is much better then on 2412M model. Sharpness is about the same but brightness is much higher on 2412M even after calibration the screen is difficult to read, it hearts my eyes. Text mode is a little better but still is too bright. It is 6 bit panel, previous models where 8 bit, gamut is very limited and it is the same as my 2209wa. srgb 95%, adobe rgb 80%.
Summary: Just purchased a second Dell U2412 from Amazon last week to complement my first which I purchased last year. After setting it up next to my original one, I immediately saw a very noticeable uniform yellow tinge to the screen with the exact same monitor settings. After failing to be able to match the two monitor's colors, I gave up and looked into if my monitor was defective.
Excerpt: I bought a pair of these for my MacPro, mainly for use with Final Cut Pro. Wired up using the DisplayPort connector they are super sharp and clear. The bezels are relatively thin which is good with two monitors side by side. The construction quality seems good enough - they don't feel extremely sturdy, but at this price point that is not surprising.
Excerpt: I use my computer for architectural computer animations. I needed a monitor with high resolution and a decent response time. I researched the internet and was convinced that IPS was the way to go even though I had never owned one before. This monitor is outstanding! I use AutoCAD, Revit, and 3ds Max Design along with Adobe Premiere, After Effects and Photoshop and I could not be happier. Dell monitors have a good reputation and quality was important for me.
Pros: Clear And Bright, Easy set-up, High Resolution, Nice Response Time
Excerpt: I use this product at work with a Retina Display MacBook pro. Bought this is a reasonable alternative to the CinemaDisplay from Apple. Connects with a mini-display port to display port cable thus I don't need any special adapters. Love having the on-monitor USB ports. The picture is excellent with great color and definition. The Matte finish coating has received negative reviews elsewhere, but I am not bothered by this at all.
Pros: Easy To Collaborate Across Programs, Easy to Customize, Easy to Navigate, Versatile
Summary: So after weeks of watching, I went ahead and bought two of these monitors for 265 when a resaler (Triplenet pricing) was having a sale. First impressions were good, the monitors had a simplistic, utilitarian design I especially liked and the stands seemed solid (I'm using a monitor stand so I can't comment on those). Upon installation I was blown away by the display quality and viewing angles.
Summary: Bought one last year - loved it. Bought another one this year - had to send it back because of a yellow tint. I first bought this monitor a year ago to use with my MacBook Pro Retina Display 15". The resolution only goes to 1920x1200, not Retina quality, but I am still very happy with the quality and color of the image. It's energy efficient, easy to adjust, etc.
Excerpt: My wife and I are photographers and constantly use Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop. This is our 4th Dell 24" Ultrasharp monitor. We calibrate these with Datacolor's Spyder and set them up with one in portrait mode and one in landscape mode. These monitors function perfectly - each displaying our images very sharp and with accurate colors. We could not be more pleased.
Pros: Easy To Collaborate Across Programs, Easy to Customize, Easy to Navigate, Excellent Image Reproduct, Excellent Price Point, High Quality Color, Versatile
