inconsistent color between monitors, etc

Mike, B&H Photo
6 December 2013
  • Excerpt: I bought a pair of U2412M monitors for use in a dual monitor display. With a black background, it is apparent that the backlight significantly bleeds through (rather uniformly), reducing the monitors' effective light to dark ratio.

OK for text

Anatoly m., Newegg
6 December 2013
  • Summary: I used to trust Dell UltraSharp series, but this one doesn't live to my expectations. But I guess you get what you pay for. Overall not too bad for a budget panel, but I wish Dell would advertise it as such.
  • Pros: Sharp, high contrast and bright. Cheap.
  • Cons: Cheap. This monitor uses low end e-IPS panel that has 6-bits per channel. They get advertised 16.78M colors through dithering, similarly to TN panels. As a result you can see flickering artifacts on color gradients as well as very high contrast ratio. Not a big deal for office applications, but a...

Lots of colour problems

Reinier K., Newegg
5 December 2013
  • Summary: I would not recommend these screens, simply because their display on white backgrounds (or mainly white images) is simply terrible. There's a significant blue gradient in the middle of both my screens preventing me to do any graphics work and it's extremely annoying when browsing too.
  • Pros: Nice large display Great display when lots of colours are on screen
  • Cons: HUGE colour differences between displays Blue gradient preventing any real graphics work on white backgrounds Flimsy bevel

User Review

LeRoy R., Newegg
4 December 2013
  • Summary: This replaced a comparatively small CRT for me, so all it had to do was work when plugged in to impress me, really, and it did just that. I ordered in November and received Rev A00, Manufactured September 2013
  • Pros: Big, bright (viewable 10% brightness in daylight), pleasant viewing angles, no dead pixels or bleeding.
  • Cons: I cant complain about anything.

Beautiful Monitor

Keith H., Newegg
25 November 2013
  • Pros: Beautiful Screen. Everything is super clear. Plenty of space for windows on each half of screen. Well worth the money.
  • Cons: I wish the monitor would raise higher. When I open my laptop on the desk in front of the monitor, the lower part of the screen is covered by my laptop. My older Dell 19" UltraSharp would raise higher and clear my laptop.

Pretty good for the price

Another Digital Dave, B&H Photo

  • Excerpt: The monitor works all right, and for the price, it is pretty good. I've gotten used to the better screens on our MacBook Pro laptops, but in this case, I just needed a monitor for OS driver development and couldn't rationalize a higher budget.

Bad White Glow

josh W., Newegg
18 November 2013
  • Summary: They shipped me one they prolly had in the back room for years. Model A00. The packaging was cardboard. The newest ones shipped with foam
  • Pros: Nothing really
  • Cons: Horrible white glow coming from bottom left corner when sitting a 0 degrees. Not back light bleeding either. At any angle other than straight on the entire screen glowed.

Too Contrasty, Can't Filter Out

Todd H., Newegg
18 November 2013
  • Summary: Outstanding monitor except for the high panel contrast which renders shadow/marginally lit images unacceptably dark. Baffled by the 5-egg overall rating, this monitor does not live up to the hype.
  • Pros: Bright, sharp, colorful, not much tweaking needed for excellent output.
  • Cons: Panel has overwhelming contrast, which no amount of tweaking can reduce. Photo shadow areas and photos which are taken in less than ideal lighting will appear unacceptably dark. If you do a lot of photo editing, you will be majorly disappointed. Had to return mine.

top-notch ...but no XP drivers!

James S., Newegg
14 November 2013
  • Summary: My two previous monitors were NEC IPS-panels (2070NX & 2090UXi), both of which performed beautifully and problem-free ...so when I decided to step up to a widescreen last month I naturally went right to the NEC offerings.
  • Pros: As the majority of reviewers have said, the clarity and color-reproduction meet or exceed any other IPS monitor in this price-range. Haven't noticed any issues with response-time, but I'm not a gamer so can only base that on the few movies I've watched on it. The stand it rock solid, and the menu...
  • Cons: Just one: no XP drivers. Spent a couple hours doing an (IMO) extensive search to see if any were available but came up empty-handed. Since I neglected to check for this while researching the monitor ...and also the fact that XP is no longer "officially supported"... I can't fairly deduct an Egg. ...

Good Monitor

Matthew K., Newegg
1 November 2013
  • Summary: For anyone worried about this monitors response time for gaming, dont. i use this monitor for a variety of games, including shooters like CounterStrike, you really dont notice anything.
  • Pros: *Best stand ive ever had on a monitor, this thing is rock solid and totally adjustable. *Good picture quality, upgraded from a TN monitor, seeing colors i haven't seen before. * Real buttons, i hate those touch sensitive things that only work half the time, i know its a little thing, but having r...
  • Cons: * No HDMI , its not enough to warrent an egg loss, but this monitor has no HDMI port.
