Buyer Beware- Touch ONLY works with Windows7,8. No other OS
29 July 2013
Summary: Touch capability ONLY works with Windows7 and 8. It has no native driver capabilities of its own and relies on the Operating System to provide them. Was trying to set this up with a Linux powered DVR and the touch position was more than an inch off and could not recognize taps. Wasted several hours trying to debug. Viewsonic says they are working to fix this but doesn't help me now and ofcourse the description on Amazon won't say this.
Summary: It's a good monitor and the touch feature is nice for use in games and such. But this monitor is NOT Win 8 compatible. I bought it from Dell about 2 months ago in anticipation of Windows 8 along a new XPS 8500 screamin' computer. They had it on sale refurbed for $179.00. So I bit on it. Reviews were like they are here, everyone pretty much liked it and bought it for the same reason I did.
Summary: This touch screen monitor works as advertised with multi-touch functionality, however the raised bevel/framing ruins the touchscreen experience. The bevel makes it very difficult to access anything along the edges of the screen, including the Start and window size/close buttons. This is especially true if you want to use Windows 8. Windows 8 has menus and functions that are accessed by clicking or hovering in the corners and on the edges of your screen.
