"Good resolution, bad microphone and back from sleep"
6 July 2011
Pros: I think the resolution is pretty sweet. The fact that it has a webcam + microphone and that it allows you to mount the DELL soundbar is pretty cool too.
Cons: 1) Microphone has sound quality issues, see here: http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/peripherals/f/3529/p/19328047/19900956.aspx#19900956 2) Very poor vertical view angles... cannot watch movie properly when screen is on desk and I am on the bed
Summary: Dell SP2309W 23-Inch LCD Widescreen Monitor I bought this directly from Dell. The good: As a monitor, it is very good. High resolution, good color and contrast, even it lacks LED backlight. I bought this mainly for the build-in webcam and microphone. Webcam is sharp under enough light. It has no LED light though, so has difficulty in dark room or strong backlight. The bad: My Dell Inspiron 530 can't boot when the monitor's USB port is connected to it.
Pros: Images look ok on this. Film, pictures, that sort of thing are passable. It's actually not too bad looking on the desk. 2 megapixel camera is pretty good. The onscreen menu is easy to use.
Cons: Display of text is horrendous. This can be fixed by altering the contrast and the sharpness, but then it begins to look quite dull. Viewing angles are extremely poor. Unusable for me. The onscreen menu beeps are extremely annoying!
Pros: The overall look of the monitor is nice (until turned on), I had been looking for a larger glossy screen to replace my NEC 20WMGX2 glossy for a while. Unfortunately this monitor is definitely NOT it.
Cons: Color quality is bad, especially blues. All solid colors have obvious intensity change from top to bottom. No way to position to avoid. 2 areas of dead pixels, one upper-right. Second is a group. At least 3 dead in middle, reduced intensity surround.
