Summary: My current system had DVI outputs for two FP LCDs but I had originally only purchased one. After using the original for two years I finally decided to update to a dual monitor system. The monitor I purchased matched my first monitor and I am loving having two matching screens. For those not using two monitors give it a try!!!
Summary: This is the lower grade model, so if your looking for the best picture for games this LCD might not be for you. If you are like me and just need some extra screen on the desk to work with then this is great. Alot of people complain about the stand, but it seems fine to me. For the money, you cant get another LCD screen of this quality.
Dell E228WFP LCD Monitor - good image, bad hardware
26 April 2010
Summary: Apparently this series of LCD flat panel LCD monitor has a great image, but they made it with cheap or faulty parts, so it is inclined to require repair early. Repairs is fairly inexpensive - from an honest repair shop - because all they have to do is replace a couple of really cheap capacitors usually.
Summary: I've just received my monitor, last week. I love it! I had been using a 19in. monitor, this one is just so much bigger and the color is great. Set up was easy. I use it for games, music and basic internet. And I couldn't ask for a better monitor.
Summary: Purchased with a Dell computer. Monitor started going dark just after the 1 year warranty. Get about 1 hr of use, then have to let it cool down. This is a know issue with this monitor, just do a search for this monitor and backlight and you'll see all the problems. Even on the Dell website (Dell E228WFP Backlight failure): [...] Dell replaced the monitor as it is under a three year warranty even though the system only has a 1 year.
Summary: This monitor doesnt have high contrast, but is just ideal for everyday viewing. My only complain is it lacks color richness. I also got this at walmart on sale (maybe because this is very old model) below $150 and for the price, i think its just right.
