Summary: I did lengthy analysis on monitor featuring zero or minimum eye strain. The only brand that was left that I did not have was Benq Monitors. I was sceptical ordering this $370 worth monitor from Germany at first. I am glad that I took my chance. This mnitor is THE BEST monitor I ever had in my last 15 years. If you use computer for many hours for work (CAD, READING or photography) than this monitor is your best solution.
Summary: The display arrived quickly and on power up had no bad pixels. Brightness is good, but the out-of-box color balance was poor and I needed to manually adjust the color settings to stop things looking excessively 'bright'. The height adjustment of the stand is very good and it holds position well, but over time the display very slowly rotates when in landscape (normal) mode. This is because the pivot friction seems quite low and the connecting cables (DVI etc.
Summary: Primarily looked at this monitor because it had a flicker free backlight and IPS Panel. The flicker free backlight does make a difference to my eyes, with much less strain on them as compared to the previous 27inch ips screen I tried. The screen is a light matt finish which lets the colours shine through while keeping the glare away and the colours where very nearly correct straight from the box.
Summary: It took me several phone calls before I learned how to use a displayport cable with this monitor. The input type must be selected on the on-screen-display. The guy at Benq told me they are working on getting better instruction manuals.
Summary: I've been using the monitor for two weeks now and it has been great. The difference in colours between this IPS panel and my old Samsung PLS panel was shocking at first. Setup of the monitor was very easy and straightforward, but I cannot figure out how to adjust the stand height. There is a plastic bit that I'm afraid of breaking. I recommend adjusting the height of the stand before attaching the monitor.
Summary: Delivery was prompt. Did NOT ship with all accessory cables promised. Missing cable is Mini displayport to displayport needed for multiple display arrangement. 4 days waiting for FS customer service to reply about the missing cable but no reply. Display can be annoying to turn on because it takes a couple of seconds to turn on due to capacitive button activating twice, turning it on then back off again. Very Bright and good color performance. Great field of view.
Summary: Having been using a 1440x900 monitor for years, this monitor was like seeing for the first time. Amazing screen real estate and so clear and sharp. I've calibrated it using settings from a review site (just a google away), which had this as their must-buy monitor and I so agree. Played some FPS games and monitor response seems amazing, colours are really good and blacks are very black. No preceived bleeding. Haven't noticed any dead pixels...yet.
Summary: I purchased two of these to replace two Dell 20" monitors with CFT backlights that I'd had for 5 years. I considered going for the Dell 2412M, but after much searching and review reading decided to go for these as they had similar reviews and were a much newer model. If I'm honest I was a little apprehensive as I've never used BenQ monitors, but now I have them I don't have any concerns.
