It looks like someone who smokes used this monitor for 17 years then shined it up but couldnt get the dingy color out
16 December 2014
Summary: I picked this monitor out to use as a second screen for gaming and streaming. It was a birthday gift from my mom. I wasn't impressed with the clarity, the height of the stand, or much of anything for that matter.
Summary: The monitor is working fine, but beware of trying to get your rebate. ASUS has "4myrebate.com" handling their rebates, and if you do a Google search, you'll see plenty of complaints related to non-fulfilment of ASUS rebates through this handling company.
Pretty slick deception to get you to buy their monitor

Summary: ASUS offered a $10 rebate with the purchase of this monitor. I downloaded their rebate form and mailed it to them along with other documentation they required. Then I received an email from ASUS stating they had denied the rebate because I did not supply all of the documentation. Totally bogus.
Summary: The monitor itself is fair. I have three of them but one of them stopped syncing over a 1080P HDMI signal which is what I need it for. If I plug the same HDMI cable into either of the other monitors, they work just fine. This unit is defective. I can understand that, it happens.
Summary: Monitor has a great sharp picture, awesome vibrant colors. I really like this monitor and hope I get many years of use out of it. Nice step up over my old acer lcd. The built in presets work well I have not had to adjust outside of using the presets.
Summary: The back light bleed on my monitor is so bad I had to turn economy mode on. Still even with this on you can see it all around the edges of the screen, and really dark areas in the center are still washed out by it. I may have just gotten a lemon, but I would not recommend this product to anyone.
Summary: I had very high expectations of this monitor after purchasing an Asus monitor back in 2010 with no problems. Unfortunately, right off the bat I had a bright green stuck pixel in the middle of the screen. I ran UDPixel, used the touch fix, tap fix, and tried every other potential fix I could find.
Summary: The product had a faulty VESA hole, preventing mounting and was returned. Besides that the monitor instantly gave me a headache when powered through HDMI at the native resolution and refresh rate. It has a high degree of flicker.
Summary: Poor quality is the biggest reason not to buy this monitor. If you do insist on this particular monitor, purchase Memory Express' replacement plan (go for 4 years). The replacement plan was offered when I purchased the monitor, but I declined (yes, asus has a 3 year warranty on the monitor).
Pros: I use this monitor primarily for games, and the vs278q does it very well, bright vibrant colours, huge display, and at an affordable price makes this monitor a super bargain. The specs are impressive as well, and that is one of the reasons this monitor drew my attention.
Cons: This monitor exhibits extremely poor workmanship/quality. I bought this monitor on Nov 20, 2012 and on May 24, 2014 this monitors controls (except on/off button) stopped working. I had this monitor plugged in via hdmi into a msi gtx 550ti card, and for over a year no issues, but the monitor sto...
