Summary: Terrible experience, colors all washed out at first hook up, white popped so bad it hurt my eyes, but yet blacks and darkness were so low on my background pic I could not see my kids faces... spent hours calibrating it and even called asus to help... I was able to fund a decent balance but colors still a little faded and my eyes feel so strained and I have been getting headaches like crazy after an hour of use.
Summary: I'm being dragged, kicking and screaming into the 21st century. This monitor is sooooo much better than the old analog one I've been dealing with for years. Until you actually switch from analog to digital on your P/C, just like your TV, you cannot imagine the improvement. I have been researching these monitors for over a year, and this is the one I *finally* decided to buy. I do not regret that choice.
-The built-it speakers are terrible. -The screen and display are OK

Summary: WARNING: This product is not Mac compatible, and Asus knows that. When I could not get the webcam to work, I called Asus tech support for assistance . Asus informed me that the webcam is not designed to work with Mac. I asked why it is not advertised that way (i.e., why is it not described as Windows only), Asus replied (astonishingly) "Why would we do that?" Big disappointment--severely damages Asus' credibility. Wecam issue aside: -The built-it speakers are terrible.
Summary: First of all, this monitor is not the latest design or technology. It has been on the market for a few years. That being said, it originally sold for as much as $600.00 from most sources. I needed a larger monitor to fill a space left when I moved an older monitor to a laptop because the new laptop screen was so small on my desk. I looked at several options but settled on the VK278Q because it fit my price and performance criteria.
Summary: I use my computer solely for business/work/internet stuff and this is just fine for that. Responsive and text and pictures are very crisp. Built in camera is a nice feature. CAREFUL: I had intended to use it for an iMac, and had read warnings about the lack of compatibility. I took the risk and, even after finding some reviews from people who had managed to find work-arounds -- could not make it work.
Summary: Yes, it works on a macbook pro, 2011 mavericks. I almost had a fit while reading reviews during shipping that others had not made the feature work. I contacted customer support who did answer fairly promptly, every time I emailed. I asked if the webcam worked, they said NO. Panic. The box came, I worried about putting it all back in, or shipping it back without trying it.
Summary: I have this same monitor at work, and liked it so much that I had to buy the same one for home. The only thing negative I can even think to say is that in a home setting, this monitor is pretty bright. I didn't notice how bright under the fluorescent lights at work. Overall, I'm very happy with it.
