Dead Pixels

S. McCarthy "Handbone", Amazon
28 June 2011
  • Summary: Just bought the monitor and like most people, I have a few dead pixels right out of the box. I will order another to see how that one works, but so far its a no go for me. BUT, the monitor is very nice and huge. Colors, contrast, and brightness look great, and its good for the price. Just watch out for those dead pixels. I will update the rating once I get a new one.

  • Summary: Not overly impressed. Screen is very blue (even post screen). Spent a long time trying to adjust (with the dumb adjust buttons located on the bottom of the monitor) but one way was too blue the other settings were too something else. No happy medium. Will see if there are any monitor color monitor calibrators that can help. There is no vertical stand adjustment. Not a huge problem but seems like an cheap/easy thing to add.

  • Summary: Problem #1 was my own fault. I mis-read the resolution as 1920x1200 but it was only 1920x1080. Problem #2: It is much harder to read anything on it compared to my previous 22" monitor (A Synaps that I also bought at WalMart) Problem #3: When the screen blanks due to the screen saver turning on, about 10% of the time the screen won't show anything when I press a key or move the mouse. I didn't have this problem with any of my previous monitors on the same PC.

Adequate for Being the Cheapest 24" Monitor

Amazon
22 June 2010
  • Summary: I've been using this monitor with its "out of the box" settings for almost a month. The monitor arrived with a single dead red pixel near the center of the screen, which makes it annoying but it is otherwise not a problem. The colors are not great, at least not out of the box. I also have an Acer B243W bdr 24.4-Inch LCD Monitor that I was using on the same computer, and the colors and quality of that monitor were quite perceivably better.

An early review

Amazon
31 March 2010
  • Summary: I've had this about three weeks now. First of all the speakers are muffled and dull; I wanted this monitor to save desktop space, but ended up putting external speakers on the computer anyway. Second of all, it is ferociously bright. As a migraine sufferer, I am always looking to dial down the brightness on monitors. I can get into the menu for this (using the buttons along the bottom right) but cannot seem to access the "Brightness" setting, only the Sharpness setting.
