Summary: The screen is too bright and there is little contrast at any setting. Text is often so faint as to be unreadable. The display is OK for pictures and videos but if you do any reading other than emails avoid it.
Pros: very little
Cons: poor black and white contrast and resolution. Don't buy it if you use your computer to read.
Summary: This monitor is like playing on a CRT TV all over again. GREAT response and the graphics are very good as well. This monitor is great for its price and if you are considering buying a BENQ simply for console gaming DO NOT DO IT. The BenQ houses too much power to be utilized in its entirety by current generation consoles (Xbox 360 at least) so there is no need to pay $500 for a console use only gaming monitor.
Summary: Great Monitor. Speakers are low quality if you care about that sort of thing. You need a audio cord to have the speakers work out of the box which I'm not sure is stated clearly. They didn't work through HDMI when I tried.
Summary: I wouldn't say its totally bad. Like I said I did leave it on at times throughout the night. But I have done this regularly with all my monitors. For the price I think you can do better. But don't buy it if you like the fact that it has speakers.
Pros: Looks good and the display is good. Didn't look unbelievable or anything like that. I would say it was good, not great.
Summary: I bought this monitor primarily for use with my XBOX 360 (playing games like Battlefield 3). Unfortunately the image quality was not was I was expecting (connected with HDMI). The home screen was grainy and somewhat blurry. Even after several minutes of trying to play with the settings (both on the monitor and the xbox) I could not get a decent picture. Also, there seems to be quite a bit of light bleed and blacks seem to be gray.
Summary: I've had this monitor for a few months... it is time to review. The colors are really bad on the monitor. Every month since I've had it, I finally get fed up and spend a half hour trying to calibrate the colors. Most shades of light gray are invisible to me... they just look white. I suspect that is fine for the average person who just browses the web and reads email... but when detail matters, this just isn't acceptable.
Summary: I purchased this because I needed a good monitor for gaming as well as computer use. I everything about this product, there's nothing I dislike about it. This monitor is great for everything and is a good price too.
Summary: Just purchased my second Asus VH236H, this time was for my wifes computer. Having utilized the first unit flawlessly for over a year now, I felt comfortable enough ordering another one. I've been using ASUS monitors now for some time, and I can honestly say i've been pleased with every single one (about 5 or 6). The main benefits of this particular model include: 23in display, low power draw (<55w), good colors, and a full range of inputs.
Summary: I only had seen ONE review where someone mentioned having an issue with the way the monitor panel is 'coated' for anti reflectivity. I thought I'd ignore it as a one off, or a picky person. Well I got my monitor, which was to sit side-by-side with an older 23" Acer LCD, and indeed there is an odd coating on the panel that is very annoying. it's like it had a coat of grease or smudge.... a sparkly pattern.
