Asus VG278H

  • Summary: The Asus VG278H has great 3D performance and a fast refresh rate, but is just a bit too expensive for what it offers.
  • Cons: The monitor is expensive, given what it offers. Also, accessing the connections can be maddening, there is significant backlight bleeding, and the OSD navigation is clunky and obtrusive.

ASUS VG278HE 27" 3D-Ready LED Backlight Widescreen LCD Monitor

15 February 2014

This monitor does a single thing quite well, but is not flexible enough to satisfy other uses.

  • Conclusion: For an MSRP of $599, we feel the VG278H is a touch overpriced. While it does its job as a 3D gaming monitor admirably, it does little else with much efficacy. If you're familiar with Asus' computer monitors already, you'll enjoy the design and menu options here. Unfortunately, there is no one who'll be a fan of this monitor's color integrity.

Asus VG278H 3D Vision 2 Monitor Kit Review

15 July 2012
  • Conclusion: Recently we took a look at one of Asus’ entry level LED backlit LCD monitors and we were very impressed with its clarity, colour reproduction, and most of all its price. But this is common ground and something that everyone is used to – where do you improve a great image? Well the next stage is to take things to the next dimension, quite literally.

  • Conclusion: For general desktop use the 27" screen looks great, it is crisp and clear with plenty of brightness available to the user and the larger display area creates a more impressive viewing experience than 24" alternatives. For Stereoscopic 3D use it is great to see that NVIDIA and ASUS are making progress. The difference in quality between this model and the original first generation Samsung screens which were 3D Vision capable is massive.

Asus VG278H 3D Monitor Review

Gamers Daily News
8 February 2012
  • Summary: The Asus VG278H sits proudly at the top of the monitor food chain. There is no reason for humility on Asus’ part because they have set a new standard of excellence with this monitor.

ASUS VG278H 3D Vision 2 monitor

9 December 2011
  • Conclusion: : the ASUS VG278H monitor can provide jaw-droppingly good 3D visuals when allied to the latest iteration of NVIDIA's burgeoning Vision technology. But merely average 2D quality and a high retail price ultimately count against it for an unreserved recommendation.

NVIDIA 3D Vision 2 and The Asus VG278H LCD Review

21 October 2011
  • Excerpt: When we first took a look at NVIDIA’s 3D Vision technology a couple of years ago, we came away impressed. We understand that gaming and watching video in 3D isn’t for everyone, but after using NVIDIA’s first 3D Vision kit with one of Samsung’s then-new 120Hz LCD displays, we truly enjoyed the experience.
  • Pros: Excellent 3D Effects, Tons of Supported Games, LightBoost A Definite Plus, 3D Vision 2 Glasses
  • Cons: Asus VG278 Monitor Is Somewhat Expensive, 1080P Resolution Is A Bit Low For a 27" Screen
