Excerpt: Excellent monitor, but all the comments about the initial settings are correct. The brightness, contrast defaults are too high. After taking the brightness down to 35, contrast to 80, and setting the colors to my liking I can't complain. It would just be nice to have the default settings a little closer to optimal out of the box. Also, there is a disk that comes with it and some instructions, these could be improved as well.
Pros: Adjustable, Easy To Set Up, Lightweight, Sharp Image
Summary: This monitor is okay. Very good framerate FPS for high-end graphics card and or SLI/CROSSFIRE GPUs, and also there are some good functions embedded in this monitor as well. Such as counter down timers and bigger aim centers. However, the only reason I gave this monitor 3 star is that when you have a SSD as a system drive, this monitor cannot keep up with the fast boot up.
Summary: 144hz monitors are notorious for their lackluster picture quality but the ASUS VG248QE is kind of a nice balance. Not only is the responce time and refresh rate up to par with some of BenQ's top of the line gaming monitors but the picture quality isn't terrible. In fact it's solid. Obviously you won't be doing any sort of contect creation or professional work on it but that isn't what this monitor is aiming for so that is perfectly OK.
Excerpt: I use this monitor for web development and reading extensive manuals. The portrait orientation is very convenient for reading. The two things I wish this think had was at least one more HDMI port and possible 4K resolution. Other than that it is amazing.
Excerpt: If you want the fasterst response times and an ultra smooth picture this is for you. If you need high color accuracy it is not. It will need some tweaking to look good out of the box, but there are guides for that. The stand is one of the best out there.
Excerpt: The refresh rate on these monitors makes a world of difference. In this day and age of LCD monitors, we tend to forget that LCDs themselves suffer from the effects of ghosting no matter how fast the response time is. It has to do with how the technology works since images are static on til they are told to change rather than having periods where they are off.
