Summary: Let me start off by saying i do love this monitor. The high refresh rate has given older games a breath of fresh air. The colors are amazing. My main issue lies with ASUS as a company, and probably my hardware. I use a high end AMD card and this monitor is specified for a nvidia graphics card- so who knows. If anyone has some insights into my issues please feel free to comment. This monitor looks, and even feels amazing, it will definitely make your setup look stunning.
Summary: There's something odd about the colours with this, and the viewing angle has to be perfect, you need to be slightly lower than centre. The sound sucks on it but nobody that wants a monitor for gaming uses the stock speakers.. and if you do, get a better job. HDMI doesn't put out 144hz, so you have to use DVI or displayport. So if you use a surround receiver thru HDMI, use the DVI cord to the monitor and HDMI for surround to the amp.
Uneven back lighting ruins a perfect gaming monitor
3 March 2014
Summary: This monitor is perfect for fast paced FPS. The response is absolutely unbelievable. The only reason it's not getting 5 stars is because the spacing of the back lights is absolutely awful. I can't play any dark games on it at all because it is so distracting. If this issue was fixed, I'd say it was the best monitor I've ever owned.
Excerpt: Using this monitor for gaming. It functions as advertised. Had no issues on installation, once I was able to get windows to see the correct driver. It's ok, not great. Will be looking to upgrade in the future.
Summary: I was enticed to try this product by the available framerate. To know that I'm able to get 100 frames out of a game, but unable to see anything higher than 60, I wanted to see what the difference would be. I read reviews that raved about the smoothness in movement. I knew that the color wouldn't be awesome since it's a TN screen but I wasn't fully prepared...I made adjustments to the color settings but was never really blown away.
Summary: This monitor is good at being fast - fast refresh and low response times. Poor color reproduction and uneven lighting (noticeably dark area in upper left of monitor) bring the rating down. I recommend finding a review website and downloading an ICC profile and setting the display parameters through the OSD to compensate. I was pleased with the packaging of the product, the plastic finish (very glossy), red tones, connectivity, etc.
Summary: I ended up returning this and purchasing an IPS monitor, as I was really disappointed with the picture quality. But,l if you love FPS games and are a hardcore gamer, then this item might be for you.
Summary: I bought this monitor to play video games, and watch videos on. No intention of 3D use. I came from a 20" acer, 1600/900 led 60hz 2ms response (cost 119$), and the first thing I noticed was how wash out and shallow the colors look on this monitor. My girlfriend said it as soon as it hit the windows login screen. I couldn't believe i just dropped 280$ (counting shipping) on this and it immediately let me down. Out of the box the picture on this thing is terrible.
Summary: Washed out colors, google this monitor there are VERY in depth reviews about it. Long story short, colors are washed out, doesn't even match up to good quality TN in terms of color accuracy. However, 144hz is where it's at for gaming. my recommendation is get this monitor for competitive FPS games, and use another for everything else, cus the colors SUCK, and i'm colorblind!
