Monitor works fine, but white/blacks aren't as good compared to my other VE278Q monitor

Summary: I have a VE278Q monitor that is two years older than this new VE278H model that I bought. I use dual monitors and my old monitor has (Q model) has noticeably darker blacks and whiter whites, which is really irritating as these are side by side. I can mess with the settings to get it less noticeable but it is still an issue.
Summary: Item arrived quickly and in excellent shape. Setup was easy. I figured out how to navigate the buttons on the front (remote would have been much easier, but I know a remote is not included with this) Sound worked, picture was great from the computer! My problem was that the Picture in Picture was not available for my configuration. I wanted to use the DVI input from my computer and the HDMI to show my DirecTV, however....
Summary: Let's get one thing straight first, this monitor has a very nice picture when it's configured properly. Out of the box it has way too much red. It's very bright, and vivid. The contrast is truly amazing. If you're a gamer like myself, and sit about a foot to a foot and a half away from the monitor, this resolution isn't for you. I'm thinking of going back to my 24" because it's very rough on the eyes. This monitor is best viewed 4 to 6 feet away. With that being said.
Summary: As I get older my eyes aren't so good so I bought a 27" monitor. I was going to by one with a higher resolution in the end I figured that the 1920x1080 would be alright. Once I set the monitor up I quickly realized I should have spent the money and got the higher resolution. For the money this is a good value.
Excerpt: This screen is a great product for the average consumer, however, for the professional it is not as good as other screens on the market. There is a reason for the price.

Overall it is an ok screen. The gamut presents contrast issues for photo editing.
Pros: The quality and settings of this monitor are very good and the colors are just right. It is an LED monitor so energy savings and brightness are a plus. The viewing angle is average and is best when looking at the monitor perpendicular to the surface.
Cons: Alas, it arrived with (two) dead pixels and under ASUS's dead pixel policy, an LCD monitor must have more than 5 dead dark dot pixels (dark under ANY pattern) or more than 3 dead bright dot pixels (white under only BLACK patterns) to be sent in for an even exchange; so if you have 5 dead dark pixels, you are, sadly, S.O.L.
