Summary: First review here. I bought this monitor for use with a MacBook Pro as a second display. The monitor works great and has all of the features I was looking for (PIP, multiple inputs, etc.). However, a month after use I noticed a dead pixel in the center of the screen. I have been on hold with ASUS customer support about the issue for over 30 minutes with no end in sight. This is unacceptable for a $240 monitor.
Big and Beautiful, But Has Dead Pixels Out of the Box, Scheduled Replacement a MONTH away...

Summary: This is a gorgeous LED backlit LCD monitor. Colors are great, brightness makes my old Acer G235H look dim, even at its highest settings. I bought this primarily for gaming and graphic design, and for all intents and purposes, it looks like it'll be perfect, except... Right out of the box the unit has a column of 3-4 dead pixels in the middle(ish) of the screen, and another cluster of dead pixels in the bottom right of the screen. Bugging me to death.
Summary: connect/power adaptor is lose. no control to switch away from built in speaker. No much information document. Most important is it can not catch signal if the PC outputs to more than one display devices. My old 22" monitor worked much better. I would return it if I could.
Summary: Have a problem with monitor blanking out for 1 sec every 1-2mins. Tried several attempts to solve the problem with no luck, contact Asus tech support via the phone and website. Obtained a tech support ticket number with a response, that tech support would contact me within 48 hrs. 3 weeks have gone by with NO contact from Asus tech support. Bottom line is - If you have a problem with a Asus product, DON'T expect any help.
Summary: I went to the link: [...] and followed the instructions only to find out there is no rebate to be found on my item. The offer code given to me was ASU-12004 (US) and that did not work. I then proceeded to do an advance search which allows you to look up the retailer (amazon) the date of your order (Mar 26) and model number (ASUS VE278Q). No success. I would like this dealt with. I really enjoy this product and would hate to leave a bad review.
Summary: The monitor worked good for three months. Then the image started jumping. It took two calls to customer support before I received the RMA. Forget the "Rapid Replacement" it does not happen. I am paying for the shipping. I have sent the monitor off to the RMA Center in CA, with no indication when a replacement will be returned. I realize that from time to time products break and require repair or replacement. ASUS and customer service are mutually exclusive terms.
Summary: This just did not work with my Mac Mini at all. It was impossible to fix the color. The menu was impossible to use. I gave myself carpal tunnel trying to adjust the settings on this monitor. I don't recommend it.
Summary: This is the strangest monitor purchase I have made. Although the price was more than fair, resolution is not as good as a 28" diagonal monitor I purchased 3 years ago. It does have a very bright screen (with no burned out pixels), but once it is turned on, it sounds like someone is making hard boiled eggs or popping corn in the adjacent room. The boiling sound is muted but still annoying.
