Summary: So, i got my monitor on time. which was nice, didn't know if i could trust a large item not getting lost or stolen. Since it was my first big item purchase. Anyways, the outer box got rapped in shiping, and was POORLY taped and looked like someone got inside. When i opened the box and the Asus box inside had extra tape over the official Asus tape, which lead to suspicion that someone took my monitor for a joyride.
Summary: The monitor picture is quite good, and the fit and finish is acceptable. But, the reason I bought this particular monitor was for the built in speakers, Although they are functional, thay have very little power and range. I ended up buying another set of speakers just so I can hear the output at an acceptable level.
Summary: Great monitor for the average user but if you're picky about small things in general I would avoid buying this monitor as I think the con mentioned above will be more annoying than it's worth.
Pros: Great vivid and bright colors with great light and dark contrast. OSD options were basic but covered all the basis and the multiple input selection is great for people who use the monitor for two different units or consoles.
Cons: Has a strange dithering effect due to the TN panels used that cause moving objects such as movies, games, and even moving windows to have a cross-hatching screen door kind of effect on it.
Excerpt: The Asus VE228H 21.5" Widescreen LED Backlit LCD Monitor so far appears to be a very nice product. The picture resolution appears good. However, when I viewed a film over NetFlix I was disappointed that the picture does not occupy the whole screen which is not so large to begin with, but is rather, more like "movie theater" style(rectangular) with "black space" on top and bottom.
Pros: Adjustable, Easy To Set Up, Lightweight, Vivid Colors
Excerpt: I use it a a monitor for my 13.3" MacBook Pro Notebook Compute. Can't seem to get the color as good as the Mac but for the price it is still good. Very low profile in physical depth and the stand is perfect for fitting my closed MacBook under it.
Summary: Affordable monitor, with some merits. Has easily discovered weaknesses too. Perfect for this: needs lots of screen estate pixel wise, for instance working with text editing, computer programming, needs dual monitors without breaking the bank. Let me start by saying that the format 16:9 is really bad as a computer monitor form factor, but you get what you get and you don't throw a fit.
Summary: I bought this monitor to use for my desktop and for my ps3. The monitor worked great for 8 hours. My ps3 and hd content on my pc looked great on the monitor. There was no motion blur and lag on the ps3 and no glare from light on the screen. The integrated speakers were lacking but they did a good enough job. The menu system on the monitor is horrible you have to press 5 different buttons to operate it.
