For The Money, Nah. There's Better Options. Quality Control.

Jimmy, B&H Photo
13 July 2015
  • Excerpt: I ordered two of these monitors for a dual display setup using the "Halter Dual-Monitor Desk Clamp (B&H# HAYKHL2MNT)". The monitors are packaged nicely, especially if you like getting styrofoam all over your house. My first impressions were that these monitors were nice!
  • Pros: Adjustable, Easy To Set Up
  • Cons: Defective, Inaccurate Colors

DOA

Doug E., Newegg
8 May 2015
  • Summary: Bought this to have an extra for when we need to get someone set up quickly. I didn't check it when I got it. Pulled it out of the box today, and nada. Dead on arrival.
  • Pros: Spec sheet looks great. Holds paper from blowing away on my desk. Does not use any electricity.
  • Cons: Does not work at all.

Was good for two months

David C., Newegg
3 July 2014
  • Summary: Ultimately I switched back to the HP lp2475w. It's just not easy to lose the screen real estate from 24" to 23", and it might seem ridiculous, but it's noticeable. Plus, the old HP just can connect to anything. Despite the 2 eggs, I didn't dislike this product.
  • Pros: I got this monitor as a downsize from a HP lp2475w (which I bought for almost nothing), partly because I thought at the time a smaller monitor would be less cumbersome. The color is impressive, though it involves a bit of tinkering if you're meticulous (check other reviews). That said, it's ideal...
  • Cons: Oh boy, where to begin. The speakers are awful, but no one buys these for the speakers right? The color options don't really seem to change much, or lack the ability to be precise (a bit too plain for the price and intent of the monitor). I imagine many people buying a monitor like this NEED prec...

This isn't a good monitor...

Dylan E., Newegg
15 June 2014
  • Summary: This is a bad monitor in general. If you want a great IPS monitor, I would recommend spending slightly more so you don't end up with something mediocre like this.
  • Pros: -Great Colors on bright images -Pivot, swivel, and tilt work nicely.
  • Cons: -Terrible blacks... they are too dark and crushed together. -Poor speakers, they are only there to jack up the price. -Limited menu options, you won't be able to adjust all that much. -All of the alternative display settings are terrible. -The infamous IPS "glow" is highly noticeable with this mo...

Good Monitor but didn't last long

Teodulo I., Newegg
13 May 2014
  • Summary: I've always been an ASUS guy but it seems like as they grow as a company and demand increases for their various lines of products that duds like mine will begin to slip by the QA team.
  • Pros: -Great size -Nice support for various input types
  • Cons: Started flickering randomly through out the day for 1-2 hours at a time. I've only had the monitor for 5 months. Really thought it would take at least 1-2 years before the backlight started showing issues. I guess ASUS is cheaping out on build materials.

WARNING: These aren't what they used to be

John Franklin, Amazon
16 February 2014
  • Summary: Bought one of these a year ago and loved it. Bought a new one to set up dual monitors. It does not match. In picture, the original is on the left and the new one is on the right. I much prefer the original. Both are set to sRGB standard settings.

Great Monitor Until...

William S., Newegg
18 May 2013
  • Summary: Overall I enjoyed using the monitor up until my recent problems with the screen.
  • Pros: The picture looks great and I like the different preset modes available.
  • Cons: Since I first received the monitor, the speakers didn't work at all. If you try to play sound through them, they play a high pitched tone until you turn the sound off. I figured since I had my own speakers that it wasn't worth returning and kept using the monitor. Fast forward 6 months of enjoyab...

Bad quality control?

Jung-jin j., Newegg
7 January 2013
  • Summary: Interesting notes: The PB238Q's product page on ASUS's website shows it shares many features with the PA238Q, meaning this monitor may have a 10-bit LUT just like the PA238Q. Though that is only my inference based on the product page, it isn't actually directly stated.
  • Pros: *Excellent stand *Variety of connections *AG coating isn't too aggressive, in fact it was quite light on mine. *Virtually no haze. I did manage to catch a reflection of my outline a few times in dark screens in a lit room which suggests to me this is actually lighter than what you see on most TNs...
  • Cons: 1. Bad quality control. Mine had massive amounts of backlight bleed from the bottom right corner. To me that means the monitor was basically unusable. 2. IPS glow, as is common with all monitors, but it was visually exacerbated by the high transparency of e-IPS and backlight bleed of my unit. 3. ...

Great picture, bad reliability

Dr L., Newegg
7 October 2012
  • Summary: Speakers are weak, but nice to have. HDMI or Displayport cables inactivate the analog speaker input, so you better have sound available on those digital cables (and have a monitor not defectively setting volume to 0).
  • Pros: Great picture from IPS panel. Sharp, good color balance in sRGB mode, attractive, and comes with many cables - VGA, Displayport, DVI, speaker extension, and usb downstream.
  • Cons: After 3 weeks perfect, and carton recycled, the monitor began to display to on-screen volume control, with no response to the buttons, except while holding menu button, but right back. Cannot access menus to reset it. Newegg would not give refund without original carton. Asus tech will only send ...
