Summary: The matte screen, the silver slivers, the subtle power LED, the thin bezels... This monitor looks amazing. The panel, however, is an embarrassment. Yes, the color reproduction is great, and the screen produces quite the rich library of hues. With its 5ms refresh rate, I'd expect it to be similar in performance to my previous $110 TN panel, but instead, this one leaves trails when dealing with moving objects.
Summary: This is a beautiful monitor when it works. I have had it for two weeks now and the monitor is constantly turning itself off, requiring you to remove power from it in order to reset it. It also seems that the OSD "buttons" are activated randomly. Suddenly, without warning the display will change inputs, open the menu, shut off and require you to cycle the power in order to get it responsive again. I would avoid this model.
Why do I have to use VGA cable in order for the image to display on the whole screen?
15 November 2013
Summary: Maybe it's just me. I couldn't get the monitor full screen (set at 1920 x 1080) while using the provided cable (HDMI to DVI). At first I thought it was something wrong with my video card or some adjustment that I need to do on the monitor in order to have the image to fill up the monitor (w/o the black border on all 4 sizes). Anyway, i couldn't. then I decide to use the VGA cable, voila, it works. But why? I feel like I have a lambo but I got forced to drive at 40 mph.
Summary: I usually don't write reviews. However I have owned this monitor for about six months now, and everything was great. Very good picture quality, the framless design is very nice as well. However no the screen is beginning to become discolored on one side. If the background on the computer is black, you can see purple image burn. Not really sure how this happened. I am disappointed though. the amount of money I spent on the monitor, I would expect it to last a bit longer.
Summary: Lots of backlight bleed on the bottom left hand corner that fades into 1/3 of the screen and washes that portion of the picture out (very distracting, even in daylight). When adjusting the contrast using calibration test images, the contrast setting above or below 65 would show the contrast as being set way too high, which makes no sense.
Summary: I bought this model and my friend bought the Asus PA238Q. He came round to the house and we compared them side by side. We both very quickly agreed that the PA238Q displayed far better colours. The brightness seemed stronger on the MX239H but not significantly better. Although the MX has speakers and dual HDMI we both felt that the PA was the best. I returned my MX and replaced it with a PA. By adding extra feature...
Summary: I ordered two of these at the same time in order to use in a dual screen setup. Initially everything was good and I was very impressed with the picture quality and look of the monitor. My only slight niggle at this stage was the touch sensitive controls for the On Screen Menus and on/off which take a bit of getting used to.
