Summary: I bought this and it works fine on my newer 2011 macbook pro; it does not work on my older 2007 macbook pro, even though both have the same OS. I tried uninstalling the driver and reinstalling the display link driver on the older macbook pro to no avail. I uninstalled it and downloaded and installed the beta version and that didn't work.
Summary: Three months ago I bought this monitor, image quality is good and resolution too, the finish metalic in the back is beautiful and elegant, but the plastic edge in the front is the worst, I use the monitor frecuently and carry it with me, I am careful with it, but nevertheless already has two cracks (fissures), I've never beaten or dropped it.
Summary: I have owned this portable monitor for a few months carrying it in a briefcase to and from classes. During this time the monitor was always inside its case and I was always careful to avoid any unnecessary risk. Unfortunately since it is impossible for things not to move inside a briefcase while walking my screen, though inside its case, broke. With this product being marketed towards portability, I was expecting much more when its came to its durability.
Summary: Likes: Very lightweight does do 1080 resolution Meh: Brightness is OK Sharpness is not great, actually sort of fuzzy in comparison to my other monitors Dislike: I very much dislike having to use the case to prop up the monitor. I would much prefer that it have some sort of integrated kick stand. It doesn't fit very well in my brief case. I bought it to use with a Surface Pro2, but the Surface Pro 2 cannot provide enough power to start up the screen from its usb port.
No-Go MacBook Pro - 5 stars if brightness adjustable
18 February 2014
Summary: Go: 1. Nice looking, lightweight design 2. Protective sleeve/stand included 3. Works with Mountain Lion after disc install (MacBooks with no optical drive will have to look online for driver download) -- other reviewers say will work with Mavericks 4. Good pricing No-Go 1. Cannot turn up brightness using adjustment buttons on monitor (Mac monitor maxed; and no, ASUS Customer Reps, this is not a power management issue on the Mac itself.
Summary: When I connect this to my PC which only has usb 3.0 port, both screen flushing. From the sound it looks like this monitor continues connecting and disconnecting with my PC. In general, it dosen't work. I change to another usb 3.0 port, it still dosent work. Then I change to a laptop with usb 2.0. It works fine.
Pros: small and light, comes with own protective case
Cons: The connector is constantly coming out and turning off the screen, even after I learned not to move the computer or screen after connected. even if another wire bumps the wire or nothing moves at all that I know of the connection can be lost. Had I known this I wouldn't have bought this. Also sometimes I have a problem with turning it on after it's been connected. but this could be a software issue. also the resolution isn't great.
