Summary: Beautiful monitor. It'd be five stars but for the price. Even though we run Windows on everything, we have 6 iMacs (also on Windows) and wanted the PC to match, so used this monitor with the PC hidden away. It blends right in with the rest of the Macs, and is in all other respects a great monitor.
Summary: I purchased this monitor with an Apple Mac Pro and the primary reason was to ensure that all the connections would work without issue. It is a very high resolution monitor and has enough width to run two programs side by side (an important consideration in my case). The connector going to the Mac computer was simple and plugged right in the back of the case like a USB plug. Like the rest of Apple's current line, the build quality and attention to detail is incredible.
Summary: Excellent display with one major problem, dust inside the display. Not the dust behind the protective glass panel, but inside the display panel itself. It started showing after aprox. 6 months of use and had problems to activate Apple Care, because serial number of my display was non existing, at least that's what Apple told me? Aside from dust issues, picture quality is as perfect as it gets.
Summary: I did a lot of research into three brands that use the 2560x1440, H-IPS panel in their monitors. One brand is known for having a lot of green lines going through the screen, dying out quickly, and having too much anti-glare coating. From forums to even youtube videos, I was off-put by such poor quality from a brand I seriously considered, especially as the price was the same ($999).
Summary: Love my 27 inch Apple monitor, but did not expect it to go down in smoke. About a month into ownership, I was working and suddenly smoke began to pour out of the rear of the monitor. I quickly unplugged everything and took it out of my house. The item was replaced without question through Amazon. Keep your fire extinguisher handy.
Summary: My monitor is in a room with a lot of light, none of it directly on the screen itself. However, it literally looks as though it is a perfect mirror in any of the darker spots. Not only can I see things in detail, but I can see their colors as well as if I'm looking through tinted sun-glasses. Yeah, this sucks. HOWEVER, it is a FANTASTIC display. The colors pop with a brilliance i've never seen and the resolution is huge.
Summary: No one is fooling themselves here. We're all aware this isn't a value priced monitor or a best bang for the buck item. But as of Nov-Dec of 2010, this is one of the best out there for pure picture quality. It's regrettable that Apple currently elects to have only one choice for monitor size, but it IS an excellent size for any professional who is looking to shell out a grand.
Summary: I was initially reluctant to invest almost $1k in a monitor but this was misplaced. The price is steep but compared to others offering the same resolution and features it is very competitive. When paired with a MacBook Pro it is seamless and provides a better level of service than I had hoped. Included are additional USB ports making the office connectivity particularly versatile.
Summary: Glare: do you have an iPad or iPhone? Does the glare bother you? It doesn't to me, and neither does the glare on this display. The display just looks like a giant iPad. It's super cool! Cable: The short 3' cable is a disgrace. Apple stores don't sell an extension cable, and neither do any other local retailers. Thankfully Amazon has a 9.8' cable from Cables to Go for about $30 that worked perfectly. Amazon rocks!
