Summary: A very very valuable and useful tool - especially when price comparing with other products. I am using this with a mid 2014 Mac Book Pro 13" Retina running OSx 10.10.2 I bought it to support my work when away from the main office. It does that well - just as advertised - after I downloaded the drivers for the Mac as per the AOC website . . . (the drivers are actually downloaded from the DisplayLink site).
Decent portable monitor, limitations when using with Apple OS X

Summary: Decent monitor, but Apple MacBook Air support is limited. - No ability to adjust brightness or contrast - No support for auto-pivot When I contacted AOC/DisplayLink regarding the brightness/contrast issue they suggested that I connect the monitor to a windows box and adjust and then move it back to my Mac.
Excerpt: Works well with my MacBook Pro Retina-- the displaylink drivers are easy to download and install. The screen then functions just like a second monitor through the USB port. At my office I can use a secondary display through the Thunderbolt port and this Aoc display as a third screen. The colors cannot be adjusted (calibration is not possible) and are not great. It works well as a screen on which to put palettes while using the main screen for actual work.
Excerpt: First, the product arrived on time. That beat out the @ reseller I tried to purchase this monitor from who said that they had shipped when in fact they were out-of-stock. Next, the purchase price was $ less than my previous attempt to purchase this item. My laptop's 3.0 USB drivers had to be updated, but the monitor's install software notified me of the driver issue. So no need to jump through any support hoops.
Summary: Usage period: Above a year Pros: Powered by single usb 3.0 cable Relatively thin, but not even remotely as thin as technically possible Design for stand is quite good Lower power consumption Cons: Color calibration is horible and cannot be fixed Driver updates make auto rotate virtually unusable Delicate Could be lighter Resolution isn't anything special given current technology I'll start by saying that I'm writing this review since I have to purchase another unit since...
Excerpt: I've been using this monitor for a few weeks now as a second monitor for my laptop. I mainly use an extended display so I can see multiple applications at once, although the other day when a projector failed during a meeting, I was able to easily convert it into a (small) display for a group to see (sweet!). I love the portability of it and how easy it is to get going.
Summary: For the price and what it is I give it 5 stars. I read the reviews first and figured out that their was an issue with some computers getting this to work. S, first thing I did was go to the website and download the most recent drivers - then I plugged it in. No problems at all. Right clicked the desktop and did screen resolution settings to position the screen on the preferred side and that was it.
Summary: Buyer Beware! I gave this product two stars due to its undesired operation. First let me make it clear that this is a vast improvement over the e1649Fwu model and is a good portable usb monitor when it works. However! The monitor has the possibility of starving for power regardless of the length of the cable or the type (usb 2 or 3). I have found the same problem with both my laptop and desktop.
Summary: I waited to review this until I had used it enough to be sure how I liked it. This is the second AOC 16" portable LCD monitor I have purchased. While I like them both, this model is my favorite. It has a slim profile, has a sturdy stand, and a nice wide viewing screen (my other one is the same size but seems to have a narrower screen). I'm using it with a Samsung Series 5 Ultrabook, 8 GB of RAM on Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit.
SCREEN IS WAY TOO DARK ON A MAC - AND NO WAY TO FIX IT.
Jason S., Amazon
10 December 2014
Summary: The screen is so dark on a mac. Just talked to AOC customer service and there is no way to adjust the brightness on a mac. Apparently on a PC you can. Why don't then mention this on the product description that it's not really compatible with mac. So glad I paid extra to have it rushed shipped to me. Now I have to pay to send it back. It is significantly darker than the screen on my display or my laptop.
