Buyer Beware!

P. Johnson, Amazon
  • Summary: Buyer Beware! I gave this product two stars due to its undesired operation. First let me make it clear that this is a vast improvement over the e1649Fwu model and is a good portable usb monitor when it works. However! The monitor has the possibility of starving for power regardless of the length of the cable or the type (usb 2 or 3). I have found the same problem with both my laptop and desktop.

SCREEN IS WAY TOO DARK ON A MAC - AND NO WAY TO FIX IT.

Jason S., Amazon
10 December 2014
  • Summary: The screen is so dark on a mac. Just talked to AOC customer service and there is no way to adjust the brightness on a mac. Apparently on a PC you can. Why don't then mention this on the product description that it's not really compatible with mac. So glad I paid extra to have it rushed shipped to me. Now I have to pay to send it back. It is significantly darker than the screen on my display or my laptop.

No adapaters required. Great way to add additional monitors with ease and excellent for travel.....

Michael C. Bell, Amazon

  • Summary: I have two of these usb monitors, one first generation, one second generation (this model). I word from home in software application support and one of these is dedicated to Microsoft Outlook and the other for Microsoft Lync. Having a monitor dedicated for internal communications is the way to go, because the instant message windows won't pop up in the front of your work and get in the way.

I

Rick "Digital Crazy", Amazon
12 November 2014
  • Summary: Move on if you are thinking about buying this poorly made piece of junk. The problem with it is the cable connector. Why on earth the company thought anyone would want to remove the cable off the back is anyone's guess. It's not like you can hook the screen up any other way. Instead of making the connector permanently attached, it has a very strange connector that if you so much as move the monitor one centimeter, the wire moves, the connector disconnects and the screen...

No problems for me. Love it.

DRDrdr, Amazon

  • Summary: This screen works just like I hoped it would. I have a 2012 Macbook Air and have used this screen with the Mavericks and Yosemite OSx updates with no major issues. Occasionally, there is a bit of lag when I have moving images on both screens, and the picture quality is obviously not as good as my mac's screen, but for someone who uses the second screen almost exclusively for text and programming, it does the job.

Inexpensive and works great

Silvia Pan, Amazon

  • Summary: I bought this to set up a my work station for when working at home. I was unsure of the quality since it did not seem relatively expensive. I was very surprised and pleased to find it is so portable. As I transitioned from working at home to an off-site office, I've just kept it nicely in my car and bring it to any office space for work.

I really like it in landscape mode

John K., Amazon
20 October 2014
  • Summary: I bought this to use with my laptop as a second screen when working. Prior to receiving it, I thought I'd place it next to my laptop and use it in portrait mode. After receiving it, I realized there were a couple of issues with portrait mode: 1. It's very narrow, not very usable in my opinion 2. more importantly, in portrait mode, the screen colors become negative on the left side which makes it unusable in portrait mode.

Buyers beware-Don't buy it!

ychat, Amazon

  • Summary: from the very first time I got this product it's been trouble. After installing the driver, the LCD will only display the company name & go blank. I even tried using both USB cords to have it connect to my laptop; but no it won't come on. This is not the first time I'll connect another monitor with my laptop. I even tried connecting my laptop with the tv..it worked. I got a replacement & it's the same story again.

Driver problems galore and poor instructions

David McElwaine, Amazon
9 October 2014
  • Summary: This product wasted a lot of my time and created havoc with my PC. At first glance this product looked well built but was considerably heavier and thicker than what I had imagined from the ads. It is really a tough call to say if I would want to travel with it. The set-up instructions on both a printed piece of paper and on a disc are a joke with virtually no helpful information.

Very functional, durability is questionable

Sherman, Amazon
12 August 2014
  • Summary: I've purchased about 5 of these monitors so far to replace an earlier model for users who frequently travel to customer sites and everyone has been very happy with the performance and image quality. It's very light weight, has a nice solid metal stand and is nice and thin so portability isn't a problem. Two things to note: 1.
